Re: Pat's 1983 URQ Alpine white #603 , 20V in progress
Hey Pat- that paint looks great.
I have found engine & trans together, from the bottom to be the easiest. I don't have a lift so I always lifted the engine/trans with a hoist into place install motor mounts, then install subframe and trans mounts.

Re: Snub mount compatibility question
Thanks Alex -I forgot 20v/20v differences. vagcat shows that I need one for an MB. I did forget to mention that it is a 3b in an Urq (I know you knew) . I'll edit my first post.

Snub mount compatibility question
Hello Audi people. I have broken the aluminum casting of the snub mount. My question is: are all small chassis 5 cylinder snub mounts the same?
I need another one so let me know what you have and if it will work!
edit: As Alex reminded me- this is a 3b in an Urq
Thanks!

I never used it so I don't have any photos of it in the car. A hose connects one of the holes to the MAF.

Re: ricks Urq RS2-ish
So I finally got around to installing my Waksmotorsport billet wastegate cap. It is a really nice product. I wanted a silver anodized one but Konrad was having trouble with his anodizer so I ended up with a polished one. I looked for someone to anodize it here but no one will do just one piece ...

Re: Vems target boost not changing? v.1.2.11 Update
So it turns out that the grounds for a few sensors (the 201 ground) for the AAN wiring that I did were not really grounded. And the fact that 1993 diagrams are different than 1994 diagrams didn't help. I grounded them and all is well. It was not VEMS and if were not for VEMS I wouldn't have found ...

Re: Vems target boost not changing? v.1.2.11
That's funny that you saw that- I just noticed that too- It is the 3b sensor. I hope my ecu re-wire is not the problem. Looks like I will upgrade it. Do you think that the MAT would cause this even though it is disabled where ever it comes into play?

Re: Vems target boost not changing? v.1.2.11
Thanks for the answer Chris, you read these logs very well!
I was working on setting up the refDC table vs boost target which is why the PWM is fixed. Do you think that that keeps the boost target kpa reading at 12? It was only reading 12 kpa when I was using rpm/gear/speed based reference lookup ...

Vems target boost not changing? v.1.2.11 Update
Help Vems gurus!
I am a noob with vems but it seems that I must have an odd setting that is keeping my target boost from ever changing past 12kpa.
here is a log - ignore the fixed 50DC - I was working on setting the refDC table vs boost target. the boost target never moves....

Re: ricks Urq RS2-ish
John- Yes 9" wheel with 235/40-17 tires. There are still a few choices in that size - like 9 not counting race tires. There is a little stretch with the tires - which I didn't like at first - but that has grown on me. They also rubbed at the rear corner where the bumper cover attaches when hitting a ...

Re: ricks Urq RS2-ish
So after some transmission & clutch issues I finally have the car on the road - after almost two years. Had it aligned today since I replaced the rack and subframe bushings and found that the rear subframe is cracked. I will have to fix that this week and get it aligned again. I am running stock AAN ...

Re: ricks Urq AAN & 01E issues
Hi Craig,
Your method is what I used- good news is that I chased through my wiring and the tach now works! I believe I had a bad ground.
My trans is no bueno though. Going to have to replace it with a different one.
So I figured that I need to update what I have done. The car has not been driven ...

Re: ricks Urq overhaul- a slow process
Thanks for the reply Dave. It has been done by others teeing in a 2k resistor as a drain (I assume since this is over my head) into the tach input. It just isn't working for me. I suppose I need to check the condition of the wire from the ECU to the tach.
I hope to drive it again soon - looks like ...

Re: ricks Urq AAN & 01E issues
So I have narrowed the shifting down to the transmission & not a linkage adjustment - the trans doesn't want to go into reverse. I got it in while it was on the floor but now that it is in the car it doesn't move (the shift rod at the trans). Could it be a bad transmission? I got it from a ...
