Re: 3B swapped Audi 90

So the pearl one is the 90s right? Is that blue one the beater?

Unless you're definitely going way bigger than a 7400 you'll be fine with just rods. Pistons are fine for 450-500whp easy with a good tune, I'd talk to Marc Swanson at EFI Express for anything over that (also for your tuning needs). 7A ...

I *think* that all FYF and GBE's had the flexible main shaft and S2 (RS2?) ratios for 3/4. Afaik no factory transmissions got the updated 1/2 collar upgrade though.

Project looks great, glad to see you keeping the thread going!!

Re: m14x1.5 lug nuts closed end ball seat r13.. where?

its not just the OD its the actual radius of the ball seat portion. the link to a google pic in my previous post shows it decent.. I end up ordering a set of open end black ones from 'vivid racing', didnt receive em yet, will see. Me wanting closed ones was mostly aesthetic so i'll deal with it i ...

Re: Kirk's CQ Build - 2020 Update!

Sam S. took it for a drive after I finished this work and I think the lack of squeaks, rattles, and harsh vibrations on a project car blew his mind a little bit. It feels a lot more like something that rolled off the Audi production line than a modified project car, which was absolutely the goal ...

Re: '84 Audi Coupe Gt grp2

Thanks, I appreciate that! It is too bad. I’ve read some things about 1/8” or more of flex in areas that could cause cracks in other areas. Those dimple die gussets help stiff’n things up. ☹️

Re: '84 Audi Coupe Gt grp2

So my regional SCCA tech inspector said things are looking good. I had asked him about dimple die gusseting and he said that’s a no go. Class rules say 8 attachment points. Anything more is considered additional attachment points and is therefore none compliant. Mmmeh.
✌️
Progress is looking ...

If you can get a wooden wedge in there and use a deadblow hammer or rubber mallett you'll be a lot less likely to do any damage.

Re: Urs4 fuel basket removal

I've always been able to get them out using a hammer and a long screwdriver to just hammer on the tabs in a counter-clockwise direction. Move around (don't just hit the same one) and they'll usually pop out after a few decent whacks. To get it back in get it started by hand, then the same method to ...

This is awesome! I really like how you plated the rear strut towers, I think I'm going to have to go back and do something similar on my coupe.

Is there a specific sanctioning body you're building the cage for?

When you say hard start do you mean the motor is cranking slowly or that it's not firing up immediately?

Unless that wire you added is grounded out somewhere (which I'm sure you'd notice LOL) I can't see that causing a problem. If the car is cranking slowly, I'd try pulling the battery, unplugging ...

Hockey pucks aren't suited to the high temps in engine bays, they won't last too long. No luck with the Energy mounts for Mustangs?
I ran a pair on my 1.8T B6 for 3 years without issue. They were absolutely terrible NVH ways, but they never had an issue and I didn't run a snub mount either.
