Re: Lower door trim
Dealer or audi tradition is the only place to get the real oem audi parts. Audi tradition's prices are cheaper than most of the online discount audi dealers but then you have pay shipping. Otherwise there's plenty of Lithuanian and Latvian sources on ebay for cheap re-production trim which I've read ...

They are parking/marker lights not turn signals. The only front turn signals on a 5000 are in the bumper.

Re: 01E throwout bearing in an 016?
Yes the locker 016 used different forks>TOB>slave cylinders and dished flywheels. The locker throw out bearing bear no resemblance to the torsen TOB and are also used on air cooled VW's.

Re: 01E throwout bearing in an 016?
Looks like you have two different manufacturers TOB's there. One is metal faced or just has the plastic dust cover removed? FWIW the 016(torsen) and 01E/01A all use the same TOB pn# 012141165E old pn# superseded to 01E141165B 01E141165 01E141165D 0B1141165

Does the fan come on with the climate control on? Should come on with all settings except for econ mode.
Might want to verify the coolant temperature is actually getting too hot could be a case of the MFTS malfunctioning.
You can monitor the temp via the climate control diagnostics channel 06 ...

Re: PTFE seals
Yes you can use the PTFE cam seal from a 1.8t etc. it is the same size BTDT. Same thing with the crank seal I do believe.
Just be sure to observe the proper install instructions of not running the engine right away in order for the new seal to conform to the cam/crank. Proper install tools help too.

Not scrap and probably worth more than you are asking as long as it free from any major dings in the combustion chamber.

There is no special bleeding procedure for the ABS on these cars. Just bleed it like you normally would, a motive power bleed certainly helps though.

I think your problem may be related to the source of vacuum. I think you want it to be post throttle body off the intake manifold. I can only imagine that T'ing into the the ISV elbow may cause idling issue too?
Now if you T'd in at the elbow coming off the manifold for the ISV that may work better ...
