Re: For Sale: AAN part out

I’m selling all my 5 cylinder AAN stuff and going to 1.8t. Stuff is for sale or trade for a 06A 1.8T swap into my 91’ 80q
IMG_5077.jpeg
I’m interested in the intake manifold, throttle body, cable, and coupler. PM me your price if it’s all still available.

Re: 3B swapped Audi 90

Well, I moved to Albuquerque for work a couple months ago. Are there any classic Audi guys from the area?

Re: 3B swapped Audi 90

The 90 is running great. I wanted to dpf/egr delete, tune, and buy some fresh tires for my wife’s X5D. $3000 later… so I haven’t had a chance to get the 90 new wheels or the poly mounts for diff/transmission yet, but soon. In the meantime I’ve been driving local and everything seems solid. Looking ...

Re: jbrentd's 2nd Chance CQ to eS2

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, you find that Audi is using a non-standard relay for the AC clutch control. So, if you're trying to follow along, disregard what I wrote in the previous posts. Good times!

It turns out the AC clutch relay has a PNP transistor in it, along with ...

Re: 3B swapped Audi 90

Update:

I found a brand new (but very old) power steering rack on eBay and installed it. The steering feels a lot better even without hydraulic assist. Also, considering going the Volvo route for an electric PS pump. Right now the rack is capped off until I can get the parts I need for the Volvo ...

The 2B Christmas party and drive is fun, I met Rudy there.

Not as much going on this side of the States.
I’ll definitely be ready before then. Might have to do it this year.

Re: 3B swapped Audi 90

Smart, I had a no emissions zip code.
I’m in Sebastopol, Sonoma County.
Oh nice.. I grew up in Touolome County and no emissions there either. I love Northern CA but work took me to the Santa Barbra area. Luckily I have an address in TX so I can just keep registering there. Once I get the car all ...

Re: 3B swapped Audi 90

If you are anywhere near Houston you should get together with Sean, Quattrocakes on QW.
He has my, obviously his now, S4. The 2 pearl cars would look great together!

Your car is looking great and getting very close, keep it up.
Thanks. I actually live in California full time but I register my car ...

Re: jbrentd's 2nd Chance CQ - She's Alive!

Do you have the manual box and controls? if not, I can send you mine, I’d just have you cover shipping. I only kept it in case I couldn’t get the auto stuff to work.

Re: jbrentd's 2nd Chance CQ - She's Alive!

I guess I assumed you didn’t have any of the AC parts but if you have the switches and relays you should be good there. Still not quite sure if pump is cross compatible. Hopefully someone has done the swap before and can chime in. I think the can-bus terminal on the ac pump is pwm for idle control ...

Re: jbrentd's 2nd Chance CQ - She's Alive!

So nothing documented on my end but the compressor is slightly different for the manual AC. Compressor clutch is different I believe since it doesn’t have the can-bus output. You’ll need to wire in control relays for the fan and compressor clutch. Control relays should be triggered on/off by the ...

Re: jbrentd's 2nd Chance CQ - She's Alive!

You should be able to plug and play most of it. I can’t speak on it for sure regarding the AC compressor so it might work. High/low cutouts should work since it’s a simple RC switch. I can snap some pics of the manual box I have so you can see the difference from auto to manual if that helps. I did ...

Re: jbrentd's 2nd Chance CQ - She's Alive!

Was able to get out in the shop last weekend to adjust the ride height on the BC coilovers. Not quite as easy of a task as the more traditional style coilovers, but not hard at all, especially with the QuickJack there to help. Just had to loosen the top nut and lower strut body ring, then rotate ...

Re: 3B swapped Audi 90

Came to the conclusion my mechanical steering rack is a bust… I tried adjusting camber and toe to see if that made a difference but no luck… steering rack is completely toast. Also… don’t know if one of my rotors is bad but I get a nice shake when I brake. It did it when all this stuff was in the ...

Re: jbrentd's 2nd Chance CQ - She's Alive!

Definitely the long way. I looked back at a video I took when I first started it up about a year ago and this fuel pump problem has been an issue since then. I could tell by seeing the turn signals getting power when starting the car. But it did force me to go through almost everything and verify ...

Re: jbrentd's 2nd Chance CQ - She's Alive!

Certainly, as you plan, best solution is to isolate that circuit. Especially since you have everything out of the car right now. I have the Bosch 044 and I ran 6 gauge to it doing the same thing you’re planning… and voltage holds stable/no issues whatsoever. I also pulled the 120A alternator off of ...

Re: jbrentd's 2nd Chance CQ - She's Alive!

That all looks good, aesthetically and functionally. If you can get your hands on an insulation resistant meter, you can test pin pairs through the wires in each loom. This would at least rule out shorted wires. You can also try using a bonding meter at wherever the grounds in those looms terminate ...
