Re: My impreza ez30r with vems!

Forgive me for saying so but really a stock 6 makes the power of a stock turbo 4 but weighs more and the weight is farther forward in the car, so, I would hardly call it a performance upgrade.
With boost, yes, it could reign supreme but not yet.

Obviously you have never tried an H6 powered ...

Re: Uncle Helmut's Urs4

Not much has been done since me and the wifey were off for 3 weeks. Spent 2 weeks camping in Algonquin Park. Felt good, since this year has been hectik. I ordered gaskets from FCP because the stealership ones were uber expensive. Now I am awaiting ARP studs which is a 2-3week wait or maybe earlier ...

A big thank you to DynoDoc!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Brady for ironing out some problems we were having with VEMS with an H6 EZ30R (Outback 2005-200?) Jérome and I were baffled by the complexity of VEMS. I have some knowledge, but it was outside of my means. AVCS was the problem. I tried the car yesterday ...

Re: Uncle Helmut's Urs4

Here is my seal removal pliers! I drilled some 5/8" dia rod through and opened up the bore leaving a lip on the bottom to catch seal edge. I then welded to cheap long nose pliers. Then I cut a slit with grinding disk.

Same tool. Look in picture. I machined a slot to have access to re-install retainers! ;) Everything was thought out!

My home made valve spring compressor. Removing retainers, springs etc. to get to seals. I might have to make a tool to install the new ones!

Well done!

Pretty smooth! Was looking at intake side. It has some imperfections and high spots. Contemplating at passing a drum wheel with coarse paper.

Too polish intake/exhaust port or not! That is the question!

Come on guru's discuss! Correct me if I am wrong. Polished ports on a N\A engine especially the intake side is a no-no! How about turboed engines? Air is lazy, but at the same time you need some type of turbulence to have proper air/fuel mixture!

Discuss! :hide:

Re: Uncle Helmut's Urs4

So, I milled broken studs and re-drilled and installed heli-coils. There is some porting that will be going on! I do believe some polishing wouldn't hurt!
