It's also worth mentioning that is a california car, which means there is virtually zero rust anywhere. Here' a few shots of the underbody to show that. Would make an excellent base for a project for someone in the rust belt or on the east coast.

Also removed the fuel tank and chopped it up a bit to run -8an straight from the pump. Drilled out original feed hole and used a bulkhead with some fuel resistant sealer.

Working on an RS2, RS4 and RS6 at work right now. With pics!
Current projects at work. Up front we have a genuine RS2, imported from Japan into Canada and shipped to the states to be worked on by us. Directly behind it is a genuine B5 RS4 imported from Germany, and to the side is a C5 RS6 with 25,000 miles! Sometimes I love my job.

Well it looks like I've neglected this thread for a while, so here's an update:
The car has been running extremely well for the past 10,000 miles. The only problem I've had with it was a fuel pump went out, and I damaged an AC line when I was removing a transmission. Other than that, it's been ...

Re: 01E swap into B3
I had a HELL of a time chasing down a problem after I got the transmission physically mounted. I wanted to start the car and check for exhaust rattles, but the engine wouldn't fire. I pulled out the laptop and opened up VEMStune where I saw 86 configurations errors. It seems my software updated, and ...

Re: 01E swap into B3
Success! The car is back on the road with a 6 speed and it works flawlessly. :drive: ,
I took a before pic of my car at 70mph with the 5 speed. As you can see it was just a hair under 3300 rpm.

Now in 6th gear at 70mph it's about 2900 rpm. Should help a bit with ...

corresponding bolt can be shortened (by 3mm). the section that comes out of the flange needs to be exact.
I appreciate the tip, I shortened it by 3mm.
if you use the stabilizer arm, you wont have problem finding gears like my friend Selmir has with his shifter in his cq, i believe you did it ...

01E swap into B3
I'm currently in the middle of a swap, I thought I would take the opportunity to add some info and pictures as I go along. I'm going to try to give a lot of info that most of you probably already know, just in case it helps someone down the line, so it may be a bit tedious. This post is specifically ...

New daily driver. Nogaro blue S4 avant!
I wasn't looking for another car, but I happened to stumble across this b5 S4 for sale in my city for 2 grand, and I couldn't pass it up. It's far from perfect, but it's going to make a great daily driver/tow rig. It's already got a stage 1 tune from somebody, but otherwise it's stock.

Re: Ball Bearing Turbo Rebuild
Well I finally got around to getting it back in the car. Got everything back together and ran it, seem to be no leaks or anything. I decided not to put the turbo blanket on, thinking that perhaps that may have added to the excess heat which caused the problem in the first place. Initial drives went ...

Re: Ball Bearing Turbo Rebuild
That's pretty cool, never actually taken one of these apart. I would say most of the Garrett turbos I have seen do not have a tag on them like that. The castings look identical to me. They may have just been trying to get some $$ out of you. Can you see any differences? Have any pics of the damage ...

Ball Bearing Turbo Rebuild
Faced with the decision to rebuild my turbo or not, I looked around for people who had gone that route, and didn't see much information. So I took the plunge and decided to do a little write up in case anyone else might debate rebuilding their own turbo someday. Hopefully this might be able to help ...

Re: Help Needed 1991 Audi 90 (7A) Swap
The wiring is pretty damn close to plug and play. Multiple connectors from the 3b wiring harness plug directly into the bottom of the fuse box in the 90. I would have to check to be sure but I think I had to cut and splice maybe less than ten wires total. Very simple. I've done a few, and just did ...

Put about 150 miles or so on it in the past few days. Zero issues to speak of. Still breaking in the engine, so not really running any boost. (Okay, maybe my foot slipped a little once or twice) But it's running really well. Coolant is right at 94c, oil pressure good. I think I might have a vacuum ...

Re: Sudden no start on my 3b swap with VEMS. Need help!
Sorry guys, I neglected this thread. I figured it out. It was in fact my timing pin. I hooked up an oscilloscope and saw my signal was there, but weak. After a pin repair, the car is starting consistently and running well. It's on the road now with about 100 miles on the clock and no issues to speak ...

Temps were good, oil pressure good. Slight leak at my fuel pump but other than that, zero issues so far. I have ...
