The reason you couldn't find me via my website is that I have rebranded the company in preparation for a big move from NH to Detroit in the next couple of months. The new website is www.HTmotorworks.com ...

One bit of recent weirdness you lot might be able to help me with.

Turbos aren't leaking
Oil scavenge is not what it should be so ill have to investigate that a bit more.
Got an oil leak somewhere up top on drivers side that is getting into the header
Details now I suppose.

Today I pulled the turbos for review and install of the turbo bearing kit with upgraded bearings and seals.
When I pulled the passenger side turbo about a quart of oil came out of the hot side, so the seals were toast for sure.
I was interested to see how these eBay turbos looked inside and ...

Should wrap up the serpentine belt rebuild rev 6+ tomorrow
Then install the turbo upgrade/rebuild kits and be ready for Dyno attempt two by the weekend

Sorry all, I'll be a no show at Carlisle :( things have conspired against me this week and I just can't make it. Judas has an allergic reaction to its serpentine belt which hopefully I can resolve this weekend.

Re: Tig welding
185 amps is not a lot of juice, especially in an inverter machine that only likes 40-50% DC. It will be fine for most of your automotive needs, but it won't be able to grab aluminum more than 3/8" thick, and that will even probably require a bunch of pre heat to pull off.

The key (excuse the pun) is absolutely as you say ie ensure the mating tapers are perfect, pin is a good interference fit and is made of hardened steel. It's the tiny tiny movements you need to stop, if you stop those then the big ones won't happen.

Re: Weld in universal strut top
Hmmmm yes that would cause noise and wear issues. It's been a long time since I built my S4k suspension but I seem to recall there being a spacer just like you show included. Kind of a top hat bushing that slips over the strut tube
