Re: Shawn's 88 Audi V80 - New Verkline Parts

How satisfied are you with the CAE Shifter?
I've been thinking about installing one for a long time.

Very satisfied. The shifts are short, gears are close together and there is a very satisfying clunk on each shift. Going from a linkage to cables make a huge difference to the shift feeling. On ...

Re: URS6 Avant 5.2

Any codes for the crank position sensor? Is it grabbing signal from the flywheel/transmission properly. I've never looked at a 5.2, is the sensor in the usual spot on the trans? Or in the block?

Re: The 90Q (07k?)

Wonder if that was due to using the wrong crossbar mount? On the later 6spd 01E reverse covers, there are two holes. The early (B4/C4) linkage use the aft/lower one and the later shifters use the forward/taller one IIRC

It's possible, the crossrod I was using was a jhm piece. It was supposed to ...

Hey if you get a chance I'm still curious what sway bars your running/what car they came off of. I'm also running verkline/akm subframes and the swaybar that was on my b3 wouldn't work with them.

Re: The 90Q (07k?)

How is the shift pattern with the adjusted rods? Before I went to a cable setup I had a mixture of modified b6 linkage, jhm crossrod, and 034 short b3 shifter. My pattern was slightly turned clockwise, just enough to notice it wasn't straight back and forth. I assumed it was the crossrod causing ...

Re: Shawn's 88 Audi V80 - CAE Shifter

So the next mod wasn't brakes after all. I decided to finish up the rest of the subframe and suspension bits. I ordered a rear tubular subframe from Verkline as well as some mounting plates for the control arms and adjustable strut mounts. I'll have these installed for the upcoming season and then ...

Re: Shawn's 88 Audi V80 - CAE Shifter

It's been a pretty busy summer so far with a few failures and upgrades along the way. When I installed the 01e I modified the 02 a4's linkage to work. The only drawback was that there was no stop between 1st and reverse. No big deal, it's never been an issue selecting 1st gear at a stop light and ...

Re: Shawn's 88 Audi V80

With the new space created from re-routing the coolant lines I was able to fit a shroud behind my rad for a proper setup. I contacted a local fabricator/bike builder to bend up some aluminum. Moved the fan to the upper drivers side area to buy myself a little space from the crank pulley. The ...

Re: Shawn's 88 Audi V80

New seats look great! I bet they're much more comfy and supportive. Always liked them.

And nice work on the coolant hose routing. Interesting brain fart by the builder, just goes to show even the experts are mere mortals.

I've been running the drivers seat for a while and it's great, hard to ...

Shawn, which VEMS version are you running? I've got an ABH with ABZ parts, so I'd be curious to see how your file compares to mine.

I'm currently running VEMS firmware 1.5.57

Re: Shawn's 88 Audi V80

Been a while since my last update. So I've always had trouble bleeding the coolant system in the car, fighting airlocks etc. It would take multiple heat cycles, lifting the front of the car and burping the coolant tank. I just lived with it and put it on the engine being from a different car, maybe ...

Re: The 90Q (07k?)

what year is that 01e you have? I did a TDI 01e out of an allroad in my 90 and I think i just used the stock 90 slave cylinder.
It’s from a 2003 A4 3.0 V6
That’s a good idea. When I get a chance today or tomorrow I will measure the OD of the slave and compare .

Like Dana I used the stock metal ...

Re: Searching for the perfect idle #DailyDriver

Did you figure out a solution yet? What is your pwm frequency set at? Default for boost is usually pretty low at 21hz try boosting it up so the iac responds faster. My idle would bounce and sometimes stall at lights when I pushed the clutch in, if i rode the gear down to idle speed then pushed the ...

Re: RONINS8: Project Luxobarge

I have an fyf bolted to an abz it works great. You may want to get a tdi 6th gear before you install it though. In 6th on the highway I rev at 3100 rpm around 110kmh or a little over 65mph. That's my next upgrade, otherwise it's fantastic!

Re: The 90

Looking very good, I don’t know VEMS at all - does it “auto” learn by marking position with throttle closed and then wide open to get the resistance values?
