Re: Brendan's 07K CQ rally car
They weren't too difficult to make, it was actually more of a PITA to clean up the OEM pedals for welding! I used a brake in my Harbor Freight press to form the pedals cleanly vs other tried and trued methods with a vice and hammer... (https://www.swagoffroad.com/SWAG-20-TON-Press-Brake-DIY-Builder ...

Re: Brendan's 07K CQ rally car
That's pretty sweet Alex! Good to know for future projects! That would have been easier to make a bracket and incorporate with a single pulley, perhaps. The only perk with the DBW gas pedal assembly is they are a dime a dozen and cheap at a junkyard. I get the feeling Jimmy G is trying to strong arm ...

Pedal Box Complete!
Converted to a B5 DBW throttle pedal, enlarged the brake and clutch pedals and added grip tape, added some stiffeners and had a friend turn some delrin pivot bushings.

Re: Brendan's 07K CQ rally car
For the motor mounts I settled on some good old fashioned robust steel. Laser cut base plates, the right side is formed to minimize spacers and shorten bolts. I toyed with making them out of round tubing and square. Seemed easier to knock them out with square tubing and miter cuts rather then having ...

TTRS vs 07K Cylinder Head
Here are some more side by side pics of the heads:
Most notable here is how they bored the head for the cams:

Re: the Coupe
Everything is looking AWESOME! I love this so much. Does that oil adapter have a check valve built into it? Have you pulled the pans to confirm they have forged cranks? Also, per Jim Green's path, I also modified a main crank cap to take an AAN thrust bearing to have a full 360deg bearing. I'll put ...

If you can build an adapter you can build a full harness! Attention to detail, confirming your crimps are solid and getting the order of operations right is all it takes.

Wow those are some opening posts!
Cool to see you are using AK MS parts. I have a bunch of their bushings. Overall good quality.
Any ideas about what turbo, injectors and ECU you are going to use? What about wiring? Are you going to do that yourself?
Turbo: Probably a GTX 2860R or the EFR 6258 ...

Re: Brendan's 07K CQ rally car
@Afterthought: Yes, the trans tunnel will need mounting provisions fabricated and welded into the tunnel. The mounting bolts will be installed from inside the car. As for FYF/GBE/EDU 6 speed prices, expect to pay $600-800 unless you can score one at a pick-n-pull ;-)

Re: Brendan's 07K CQ rally car
While the trans was on the ground and "dry", it is always a good idea to pull the Torsen and swap it for a high bias unit from Scotty. The FYF/GBE Torsens can't be modified by Scotty at Advanced Automotion so I sent one out of an EDU (B5 S4) to be modified. Also test fitted the AK Motorsport trans ...

Brendan's 07K CQ rally car
It's time to start documenting this build. I got an itch to go play in the dirt with an Audi rally car again and I have: 1 x '90 CQ, plenty of suspension and drivetrain parts, a built 07K bottom end - Why not?
