Re: Engine Balancing - Five Cylinder
Just thinking aloud here. Justin, could it be the opposite of what you are explaining, that the failure is due to the overall diameter of the trigger wheel, and that the crank resonance is causing the screws to fail since they are not on the rubber damped portion of the pulley? Obviously we know ...

Re: Engine Balancing - Five Cylinder
Regarding the internal/external balancing comments from the 1st post. I cannot technically say which is true, but I do however have some findings of my own about the extra nub in the damper.

The exhaust sounds so much better in the flesh. Worth the work put into it and I'll be looking forward to building my own just like it some day

looks good man... I vote going with an original color. If you don't pick carefully. Most non stock colors I've seen sprayed on any type85 doesn't look right (imo). I've only see one painted in the R8 Teakwood brown metallic that looks super sharp. I think it would probably look really good going ...

Re: Darin's 80tq...still a no go...
I think we have some confusion here, the alignment marks are for TDC but it's not a bad idea to confirm that the window is at the hall when the pin is at the VR, which is what I am seeing in that pic. The pin and window are not at the sensors at TDC.

man, such shoddy workmanship. You should send that thing back to whomever built it and demand they keep it until it's fixed right.

just FYI, if you put the sway bar there in the rear, with those endlinks, the top portion of the endlink where it attaches to the swaybar will rub the axle. It's location relevant to the front is different due to different ball joint locations. You need the other more S shaped bracket (can't ...

Re: 1984 Ur-q with 20vt and 6-speed aka Shannon
That exhaust sounds great. FYI, if you get rid of the OEM PS pump, you get rid of that atrocious whine from the front side of the engine. I moved to a later pump for my Serp. belt setup, and it's wonderfully gone. I just got my customers mars UR up and running on the 3B and used the old style pump ...

Re: Project Transplant B4 40V
If the frame rails are shaped the same inside as the type85/89, you will have to put big notches in them. Check 40v4kq's thread for what we did on his car.
There are a LOT of things that make the 40v engine pretty tough to install in an older chassis. Overcomeable, but very time consuming.
