Jim Green's 90q 20vt - The quest for 275's

Post by audifreakjim »

Here is how it sits at the moment, the body filler feels pretty good, going to seal it with 2k primer tomorrow and see how it looks. With any luck I will be able to to shoot some paint and clear tomorrow. I ended up going with the Eastwood concours spray gun, hopefully it will help this noob with painting the rear quarters.

Ginster baby!

Than a B3 in the rear? Effectively about 2" but at maximum flare about 3.5"

Good choice. Great price, and a good gun. It's the one I use.

Jim Green's 90q 20vt - The quest for 275's

Post by audifreakjim »

Here is a pic as the car stands now. My dreams of making the next two track events this year are fading away quickly. Still too much to do

-Rebuild transmission
-Replace blown strut
-Finish front fenders
-Match up bumpers to fenders and paint
-Paint the rest of the car

We'll see, the new goal is Buttonwillow in November.

wow, Jim... looks fantastic! Insanely jealous that you're done. I haven't even touched the poor 4000 in a month, but I've been trying to finish its new home so I can work on it again...

keep up the good work!

Yep, not going to happen this year, I have already cancelled the registration. It sucks because I really wanted to go to this. I even tried to fit the R-comps on the A6 but the Enkies don't clear the brakes. Ugh. :(

Yes Peter, the pic has the B4 front fenders on. Both fronts are ready for body filler, hopefully I will get further along this weekend.

And boost has nothing to do with this transmission failure :)

I need to post a big update with all of the pics during the bodywork phase, but as usual no time.

Rumor has it, no time, because he spent time picking up a long stroke motor.

Instead of starting rumors, you should come help with my body work:) No huge plans at the moment, but I couldn't pass up a local deal just in case!

I may just skip this block and go with a new 2.5L Rabbit/Jetta motor if someone figures out the motor mounts for me!

Are motor mounts the only issue?

Bell housings and engine mounts are not a big deal compared to the oil pan and pump problem. Remember thr new 2.5L is chain drive and the oil pump is located where thr subfrane resides on our cars. The oil pan is modular, but it is a structual portion on the part that need to be trimmed.
