Hey Jim, for plumbing the accusump, am I seeing correctly that you just plumbed it off your oil cooler? Is that the feed or the return line? Or doesn't it matter?
Have the same piece sitting in a box waiting for me to install it... trying to get the car back in one piece and painted has taken priority over mechanical at this point... lol.

It doesn't matter, ideally you would have it as close to the motor as possible with a check valve behind it so it only pressurizes the motor and not the oil cooler.

I am baffling my oil pan with trap doors to solve lifter knock. Track days I get lifter noise

It eliminated tick in a friends 90Q with a 600hp 2.2 20vT. My quess is that without an accusump on a fast car you get a bit of oil starvation that causes air bubbles into the oil. This air then gets into the lifters and they start ticking.

Another option is to drill a hole trough the bolt that holds the oil filter housing and then weld on a fitting. Works great :-)

Re: Jim Green's 90q 20vt - accusump
i have a couple observations. the first one is there is a term for the $1k spending opportunities. it is "BOAT". Bust Out Another Thousand!
second, the Accusump. originally i ran mine inside the car, ball valve actuated in reach of driver. used primarily for pre-oiling. was told its not NHRA "legal" to have it in driver compartment without firewall/shield. moved to front of car, and changed to electronic ball valve. i did not apreciate the electronic, as Mark told me i wouldnt. he was right. FS, one electronic atuator for Accusump, from Canton Racing, blah blah LOL.
i have since gotten the cable kit to run the ball valve from inside the car. i run a solid lifter setup, and i dont notice anything out of the ordinary on my setup. i would rather have the thing work as "oil pressure in a can" that has the ability to push oil anytime it needs to, and the electronic method really wasnt for me.
mine, i run a line from the oil feed off the block, to remote filter stand. coming back into the block, i have a TEE with the check valve in the return to block line. i also used to have a Setrab 619 oil cooler there as well, but have eliminated that piece as it was not needed i feel for my use. so, when my reservoir pushes oil, it goes straight into the motor, and you can actually hear it running thru the head and block when you first open the valve.... but definitely i used a check valve to keep the oil flowing where it needs to... my motor runs around 60 psi FWIW.

oh yes, and dont open the valve until its empty with no pressure on it when servicing it. the force the thing holds is pretty spectacular and makes a huge mess LOL.

BOAT lol, nice.
Regarding the valves, can you set the electronic to open whenever the car is running instead of at a specific pressure?

Re: Jim Green's 90q 20vt - accusump
mine i set it up to open when the fuel pump runs. i personally wanted it always available. once the oil pressure drops a little bit its pushing oil/pressure into the system, for whatever reason. oil pickup is out of supply on a hard corner, whatever.

I really like this idea! The setup worked very well today, though I already wish I had a larger unit. No terrible lifter tick except for one time that involved lots of donuts and drifting around the wet skid pad today:)

Ah, awesome, thanks for the tips, guys! I like hte drill idea... that's actually really slick!
On track, I know my lifters are ticking as my knock light is going ballistic around the turns (though I know full well the motor isn't detonating). Also, if I autox the car (or run it on the skid pad), it sounds like many tiny dancers under the hood as I end up causing air bubbles in the oil from it splashing up into the crank (my guess). Causes a scary low oil pressure as well at idle unless I rev up the motor. And this is WITH a 7a pan w/ AAN windage tray.

So I guess this is happening.. This is to shave the channels on the door and the lower trim mounting tabs. I hope to get it to the body shop in the next couple of weeks.

I said "mean", not attractive. Hank has been away for awhile. I'm worried about him.

Re: Jim Green's 90q 20vt - wingy
I probably owe you an update on what happened to your spoiler
I want a B4 style spoiler, but the ends of the spoiler are different than the B3. I also like the look of the competition spoliers, but didn't want something quite that tall on this car.
So I am modifying a B4 spoiler to satisfy the best of both worlds
Step 1, get Tim to send me a spare B3 spoiler for me to defile
Step 2, Cut off the middle standoffs. These are just welded on, so they could easily be shaved to make a B4 style spoiler out of a B3(plan B) but why stop there..

Step 3, Cut off the ends. It's interesting the ends are cast and the main part of the spoiler is extruded. I also sectioned the extruded piece so I can make a competition style extension off the rear later if I want.

Looking great, Jim. You must be nearing the pinnacle with this car.
