I can take it......I've earned my reputation. :thanks:
As you can see in this picture, the rear wheels, given they are 235/40/17 which is quite a bit larger rolling diameter than stock pushes the wheels to the front of the wheel well. These control arms serve two purposes, one to push the wheel back to center within the arch and to do so with B4 fenders, once they get put on. I think that even without modifying the fenders I can run 245's on these wheels if it was simply centered better. They rub right where the upper door trim meets the fender edge.

Re: Darin's 80tq...Santa Claus???....
A larger diameter wouldn't push the wheel towards the front. Or are you saying it's just more obvious?

I'm still waiting on the getting the engine block back. Hank has been a little busy and I haven't heard from him in a couple of days. I'm hoping he dropped the block off prior to leaving for his college project. I'm getting anxious to get it back together and driving again!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Darin's 80tq...Lots to do....
Went down to the lab and picked up a couple things. First, the engine block that has been dipped, decked and prepped for assembly. Scats, coated main bearings and main studs holding it together. Waiting on the head studs to get it sealed up and into the car.

Looks good!!

But before it goes in the car, this is going in! 01E 6 speed.

Finally, getting back at it!

Clutch is a stage 3 or 4 already. Hank is getting me linkage.

Just cleaned. It was a low mileage bottom end.

Re: Darin's 80tq...Lots to do....
This motor has DM Forged connecting rods, much better neck and rifle drilling to be calling them scats!
Just stock 3b pistons, decked to match the new deck height. Squish set at .038" for a little more safety at 8500.
No new rings but tjis motor was rebuilt recently and we kept the holes matched to the pistons. He also put in coated mains and rod, with arp mains. Should be a solid bottom end for years to come.

I leave, and come back to find your car in pieces. Again. Somehow, not surprised! LOL!

Looking great Darin! Keep up the good work man!
PS: I am freaking jealous of the 6spd.

You're going to love the 6spd. But like others have mentioned, stop tinkering with it and just enjoy.
Re: Darin's 80tq...Lots to do....
Dang the project threads are active this morning. There must have been lots of wrenching over the holiday weekend!
I'm waiting for parts. Parts for the 01E and parts to put the engine back together.
These upgrades were always planned and some (rods) were needed. Once this is all back together there isn't any more tinkering needed. I promise. I will drive it and leave it alone after this.
Maybe.

Re: Darin's 80tq...Lots to do....
It would be best to bolt everything together on the ground and then throw the engine/trans in at once, much easier than trying to slide the input shaft into the clutch. Let me know when on Saturday, trying to keep some time open for you this weekend.
Re: Darin's 80tq...Lots to do....
If we are going to do it Saturday, it would have to be in the morning. Also, in order to do it Saturday will require your 4kq drive shaft AND the input flanges if you have a set. Hank gave me coupe GT flanges, but they are about 5mm too long and Hank would have to machine them down.

Re: Darin's 80tq...Lots to do....
Here is a picture from when Dave did his 01E swap. He had the same issue. Also, the bolts that hold them in are square head and I need conical bolts. Maybe the 90 has conicals??
