I'm not good at keeping secrets so I just have to tell.
The B4 rear fender project is suddenly full speed ahead. The winter in Utah has been unusually brutal. Highs in the 20's lows in the single digits. My garage is dirty and bitter cold. I hadn't touched the car since I drove it around the block a few times and put it all back together. I had gathered supplies and adhesives and other stuff to figure out how to mount side skirts and I also had rounded up some spare front fenders to practice welding on. I'd spoken with a couple of welders in my neighborhood who I was asking to help with practice. My goal has been to get it completed by April's Spring Mountain event. It wasn't looking good.
One of my neighbors buys salvaged and wrecked cars, (mostly 2010 and newer) buys all the replacement parts, puts them back together and sells them. He has his own personal body shop guy who has worked on M5s, Mercedes, Audi etc. I've seen his work and it has always been top notch. He suggested I just take it to him and see what could do. So last Saturday I did. We discussed what I wanted, every detail and he looked at me and said, "ok". That was it. I hesitated, but then said, Ok, let's do this.
So he called today and I went to go look at it.

The questions he asked me and his ideas, along with seeing his work in person has me convinced I made the right call with having a professional do this. He will be doing the rears, the side skirts, blending in the B4 rear bumper pieces into the existing b3 bumper, patching the holes for the trim on the front bumpers, grinding off and sanding the pegs for the lower door trim, removing the glue for the upper door trim, pulling all dings and dents and then respraying the entire car with factory paint and clear. When it's all said and done I will tell everyone the prices. I'll simply say that it's a steal. Estimated completion: mid next week. Crazy.
Oh, and have you guys seen the two newest tires out!
These new Dunlop tires come in 245/40 and 255/40

as do these BFs!

Both are extreme summer tires. I'll probably get the Dunlops as they are available by March.
