i have seen where people redrill wheels they cant find adapters for, but some wheels arent easily redrilled. I have a HUGE love for some of the old school JDM wheels.
although, id really like to rock some Advan Oni on the cq. NOT entirely sure they would suit it very well.
Its not the weight of spacers that are the issue, it is the extra leverage caused by the lowered offset. If you really want to run 5 lug wheels do the swap. If you are thinking about buying a $600 dollar set of wheels, tires, and adaptors for your temporary set up you have already spent enough money to just do it properly and swap hubs. There is enough support here and this has been done and discussed so many times that it should be kind of a no brainer. If you are anything like me you wont be any happier cheaping out and doing something that you know isnt quite right than you are now on stock wheels. Speaking of which, I would route out the bondo and some of the fiberglass (make a big funnel shape) in the hatch and fill it with some structural epoxy or at least something like long-and-strong fiberglass filler. If you are going to all the trouble to paint your car, you will really regret not spending an extra 15-20 minutes of body work and an extra $20 on materials when that cracks in 2 months
Im gonna end up doing it the right way with the hub swap.
I have a friend in Dallas who has the parts i just have to buy them from him. I DONT want to rrun adapters though, i was just saying it would be cool to be able to run other wheel patterns.
Im going to have to repair the hole in the hatch as you are right its already begin cracking in the cold and we just did it last week.
i am gonna ask my buddy to help me do the fiber glass filler.

One last post. ;-) Are you sure thats the subframe thats cracked? If I'm looking at the photo right, thats directly above the downpipe just before the Cat. There is a heat shield there that protects the passenger side tranny mount. To me that crack looks like its the heat shield and not the actual subframe. Could just be the angle of the photo though.
MAN! I missed this somehow. the heat shield is in front of or on the bottom of the Subframe from what i can tell. I couldnt get in there to take a better photo, but im pretty sure its shot to shit.
Steve J's Son wrecked the front right side and a few pieces had to be replaced. This might be a part of the damage that was unseen...
Looking back I wish I went s2 hubs all around instead of a Frankenstein urs4/a4 hub mix... all sorts of custom work to make rs2 brackets fit c2s/986boxsterS calipers & S8 323mm rotors up front.
I've seen the s2 hubs on s2forum recently for quite cheap. If you're in no rush, I'd suggest that route for ease of p'n'p and factory offset for these cars.

So you are saying i cant just swap out the hubs? i HAVE to swap the brakes out? That sounds like no Bueno...
although, honestly, i kinda like the idea of running adapters now. The more i thought about it, I figured that at any moment in time i could decide to run a COMPLETELY different set of bolt pattern wheels.
life for instance, i LOVE the way Fuchs wheels look, and would rock the shit out of them on my CQ. Those wheels are 5x130 correct? What about if i wanted to run BMW/Corvette wheels? Not saying id run Sawblades or salad shooters, but what if i could run a set of Style 5's? or M series wheels? OH! And for the love of god, i want a set of DOPE old school JDM wheels like a bread wants butter. A set of MAE wheels or some Work ewings, or ONI ADVAN or Super ADvan?! the options are limitless now that i have fully thought about it. Todd said they wouldnt weight that much, so that being said, I might just end up buying adapters and going s2 hub swap when i make it rich and feel like its what i want.
I'm still not sure how you're going to get adapters to go from 4 lug to 5 lug unless you leave 1 bolt out. they overlap by quite a bit. maybe you could get 5x130 and go around the outside?
if someone knows something i don't let me know cause i could be just wrong and there are 4 to 5 lug adapter pieces...
stephen, what you CAN do, is take your 4x108 hubs off and have them filled in and re-drilled. problem with that is, that there won't be too much room on the outside of the hub for the threads. i have seen 4x108 hubs redrilled to 5x112 and it literally left maybe 5mm between the edge of the threads and the outside of the hub.
only way i see you being able to get 5x114, is to swap to 5 lug using either the urs4/a4 or s2 hubs, and then get adapters to go from 5x112 to 5x114, unless you want to drill out your wheels a bit, which has been done, but i personally wouldn't alter a nice set of wheels like that.
frostyflax17 wrote:ah i see how that works now. watch your offset on those, i can't imagine them being any smaller then 25mm
:stupid: 25 or 30mm. doing it this way works but you'll only be able to run factory'ish offset wheels. IE...45-48 range. There is no way you could run any fat wheels (IE 8 or 9") that are ET35 or less. Doing so would put you at around an ET-10 or so and that is just to far out.
Kuma85 wrote:That makes sense, I'd think that any lower than 35 would be too low? So the widest would be 8-8.5, correct?
Huh?? :? Not sure what you are asking. Be more specific. You have 5+ Different ideas and proposals in the last 3 pages. Lower than 35 to low? Depends. Read your threads. You already know that Spike-Ralley is running 17x9" Wheels @ ET-20. And you know what that looks like. So of course you can go less than ET-35. But not with a 25mm Spacer. That would put you at ET-10 which is 10mm further out than his car. Thats about 3/8" further out.
Slow down, and read your thread. Your head is in too many different directions. :slap:
