Loxxrider's 200 20v Revver: See you on "The Project Pad"
That's great to hear that you got VEMS figured out and working properly. Speaking of making an intake manifold, i'm really trying to look for a good reason why i shouldn't try to make one for my m20. sure, it will probably come out looking like crap and won't flow very well either, but it sounds like a lot of fun. i think i'll make one in solidworks now, i just wish i could figure out how to flow test stuff in it.
Hmmm yes, we will have to figure out how to get what SAE has lol.
Hmm maybe we can make me one tooooooo
Yeah the VEMS is great right now. Its been backfiring every once in a while when i get into boost tho. Its like vroommmmmmm POPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMmm hahaha
it just pops and then goes like a bitch. I'm thinking its in the tune. I'll run it by Kevin and Tom. Definitely having Tom tune it soon!

I hear what your saying. hopefully you can take that out in the tune. sounds like your timing is too retarded at that spot maybe. it will be awesome once you get your tom tune on it. you better do it before school starts. oh and i'm starting to look at suspension too :-D (mainly cause there is some ghetto shit on there now that i'm not really comfortable with, like cut springs and spring compressors)
hahah yeah, I'm planning on getting my tom tune before school. 20psi. My intercooler end tanks aren't going to know what hit them lol. Guess I need to see what I can use to strap them on until I can get a real core lol.
Coils are definitely the next mod. If I detail a few more boats before I get there maybe we can have them on sooner than later!!
eric is planning on doing suspension work to his too.
cant wait.
maybe you guys can give me some monies towards exhaust manifold for birthday
only $200 on ebay haha
then we need to make a turbo brace so it lasts a while.

dang we be good at detailing...this was a test spot to see if the owner wants it restored...I dont see how he can say no to that hahahahaha
That will buy me my coils

So I kinda need to figure out what my little backfire issue is.
again, sometimes it will be getting into boost then POP! then take off
lol
gotta figre out why. Kevin says its not from not enough timing like others have suggested?

took a short log of the backfire happening
i added 3 more degrees into the upper part of the map (150kPa and up) to see if it would help. No dice
It happened at the very end of the log right before I shut it off.

from an e-mail I sent Kevin...
"
I haven't logged the event again, but its happened when I was driving multiple times. It has happened at 4500 a few times, and up to about 5k. It seems like the tach jumps each time too.
Also, it seems really sluggish before about 3200 RPM's and then it takes off as soon as you reach 3200. Its not boost dependant as I can have 10psi at 2800 and it feels intensely different the moment it hits 3200 without fail.
It also just seems to pull much cleaner when its cooler out. It was 78 degrees out at one point tonight and it pulled alright, although it did make the backfire. Earlier today, it just pulled like poop as soon as it got into the 4k rpm range. Seems like the power oscillates unrelated to boost. It is like a quick power on power off type feeling.
Also one last thing I noticed is that when the pop happens its like it totally misses firing in one cylinder and then pops shortly thereafter. Like "miss a beat...pop...then go again." Sounds like spark just isn't strong enough (or isnt there) or is too late and the fuel ignites in the exhaust somewhere."
Somewhere in the back of my mind I'm almost sorta thinking spark plugs...im just using random single electric copper ones. It would have to either be that or a setting in Megatune or something. Its got 5 brand new coils, 5 brand new wires, etc.

:bashtard: duh dude, shitty plugs, what id bet is happening is you arent getting good burn when there isnt a good dense charge in the combustion chamber, ya know. :slap:

Yeah, I ordered some F6DTC's from Apikol today. (my local places dont carry it and i need them like nowish so I was fine with just ordering)
No, I'm not running a MAF (thank god). It definitely can't be a MAP problem either as this ECU has a brand new 60psi internal MAP.
Soooo about the only thing it can be is plugs. I will report my findings as soon as I get them!
Side note ** went offroading on my way home. Sand was at least 2 feet thick and super soft haha. A kid was outside watching and smiled when I ripped up a few nice doughnuts into the sand.

I don't know
I'm only almost wonder if the break up is caused by detonation. When I look closely at the graph I can see a lean spike right after the event. But there no change in INJ duty, so either that or there some issue with your fuel system. If it was a misfire of sorts we would have seen a rich spike right
19 degrees of timing, at 9-10psi of boost and high MAT temps sure make it reasonable to assume

Hmm makes sense...but it definitely seems like its a misfire because it hesitates and then the pop...but yeah then the lean part doesn't make sense. I didn't even see that before.
if the plugs dont work then I guess its time to invest in my $500 870cc's and a new fuel filter lol

Your missing what I mean, I'm questioning whether or not the lean spike after the break up is caused by detonation. What did kevin say in his response?
