yeah the 160 isn't so hot, but I dunno. I'd really love to know wtf is going on too lol. I am trying to check everything I can possibly check. I am willing to throw money at whatever I need to throw it at. I don't care. Just want it to run like its supposed to. So chime in if you have ideas.

bahahah I don't want to blame the ECU just yet...
I wouldn't be opposed to that if I found out that it was indeed the ECU's fault except for the fact that I've used 034 efi and I hated it to be honest (besides the reliability part). Every single standalone I've ever used or seen has nice drop down menus, logs in graph form that follow in the tables with a dot on the tables, moving graphs for accel enrich, etc., etc. and I didn't see any of that in the 034 setup. Maybe I was just missing it all or something. :? Either way, I wouldn't be that opposed to it for reliability's sake. I'm still not giving up on it for now. I'd feel really bad if I did and it was my car's fault.

Yeah, I have one ground going to the chassis, and one ground going to the valve cover (they have two grounds).
I can try and make better ones, but I don't know where the best place would be other than what I mentioned.

I think the locations you mentioned are good. The issue I had was the wires feeding into the grounds. The 034 setup has three ground wires going to one ground and two ground wires going to the other ground. What happened in my case was the wires came out of the connectors that attached the ground. I couldn't see this until I pulled on the wires and felt they were loose. If the wires are loose, you could have the mis-fire. Weird but true. :-)

I cant picture some of the SW features you describe, I wish I was a better programmer, I am more versed on the embedded side.
I will tell you this though, it was never my intention to make the "tuning" experience undeniably fun since once tuning is done, hopefully you get to get on with the other 99.9% of the experience. It has always been our goal to release reliable and in particular well tested hardware, firmware and software. This is one of the main reasons we dont have a ton of firmware or software updates.

Yeah, I'm definitely not trying to talk smack about what you've created. I am just pointing out some of the things that I would want if I had it in my car. I could make a whole list of stuff I'd want if I had the time and it was worth it. Some of the stuff I'd want might just be because I like what I'm used to. Some of it is definitely just superior though like the logging.
The most important thing is that you have a very reliable system. No doubt about that. I never hear of any problems.
I'm not saying the VEMS is bad in a reliability sense either, though all of the problems I've had so far haven't been related to my car's health. We'll see about this time.

I've always thought that the software was pretty easy to use. A few bugs along the line here or there, but functional and quick to tune. I did three hours of jump seat tuning today, and thought it was very easy. Plus the car ran flawlessly and made great power.
I had the same kind of crap that you're seeing happen when I was on Megasquirt. It was a big waste of time. Now the 034 ECU is about the only thing on my car I know will always, bar none, be rock solid reliable. It's so nice to have to never think about that crap.

Don't blame VEMS just yet!!
I am going to support it till I can't anymore. There are too many good people involved with it to give it a bad name if its not its fault. Remember, this can still be anything.

I see the injectors have landed, good luck with them, I hope they're of any use to you!
Funny thing that I noticed this morning after barely making it to work with a crappy running car, sometimes parts of your config get messed up during flashing or something, I found my MAT/TPS table out of whack and timing was retardedly retarded, might want to keep an eye on that....

yeah...I have those problems when running 1.1.27
I didn't seem to have that when running 1.1.70. You are running the latter right? The injectors have probably landed at the local post office, but haven't gotten here yet because we have some stupid third party that delivers our mail here. They will prob. come around 4 here. Regardless, I'll have to mess with them Tuesday after I get done with my test (have one today that I'm going to right now too actually). Then I have two more Thursday, but I can sneak in a quick injector swap. I'm pretty confident they wont help, but at least I'll be able to give my buddy his injectors back.
The latest theory is that its all got to do with noise. For that reason, we may actually try CDI ignition lol. Waiting on the people from VEMS to give some input as well.

CDI could be a solution, not becuase its a hotter or better spark, but becuase dwell control issues drop from the equation since the CDI unit only cares about the falling edge timing (spark instant) and poor/buggy dwell control will get swept under the rug.

I have had problems like that too, but only when plugging in my serial cable. Replaced the cable and the problem has not come back. So yes, reflash the ECU.
I have had my fair share of problems while on VEMS and to date they have all, but one, been my cars problems and not the ECU.
Since this is only happening under boost I cant help but think it is a coil thing. Do you have logs of what is happening? Your not hitting some kind of protection feature are you? overboost cut or something of that nature? I am sure Marc has checked everything with you but sometimes fresh eyes can help.

Well uhhhh I'm EVEN MORE confused now.
I didn't change ANYTHING and was driving the car today and got on it and it RIPPED nice and cleanly. Turned the boost up to about 15psi, still nice and clean even tho it was SUPER rich. Brainstorming commencing. I think the only thing that could have possibly changed anything was that its hot as hell out today.

put old injectors in. Idled like shit (AFR's all over the place from super lean to super rich) and then gave it some fuel and it idled fine. Throttle response is shitty. Has been no matter what I do and it used to be fine on this config. Car still runs fine in boost now too but its going super rich where it used to be perfect AFR.
All signs point to FPR?
**edit** if I do an FPR I also want to do a gauge. Not exactly sure how to do that with the braided line that's on the car. Would like to go with a nice Aeromotive FPR or something like that which I can use in the future...aka big inlet. How much power is -6 good for? I don't intend to run the car on E85...only regular gasoline and race gas.

Fuel injectors are now stock (were 440's) but I have two configs, one for the 440's and one for the stock ones. The one that its on now previously ran perfectly with stock injectors.
I can get a fuel pressure gauge, I just need to know how to hook it up with the braided lines on this car. Doesn't seem to be an easy way to do it other than cutting them.
WB02 is about 1.5 years old. Its for sure doing its job because the idle speed corresponds to the AFR like it should. Lean, it dies...goes rich and then idle comes back and then the cycle continues.
I have uploaded it a lot of times. Had to do it again this time because of the different injector size and different settings.
