Yep. I'm going to try some serious grounding. Then I have to track down my coil, wires, and another clip for the dizzy cap so I can see if the issue persists on that setup.

also just ordered a new serial adapter per Marc's recommendation so hopefully my serial headaches will be over. I'm praying for something to go right here.

I need a new clip for my dizzy. If anyone has an extra one, I need it to test with.

Woooohooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

This time I have tangible results. Switched out the D585 coils for some other LS2 coils. Car ran awesome. I feel like the fiddle sticking master diagnoser now lol. I felt like giving up but couldn't bare to let the problem defeat me so I've put my heart and soul into figuring this shit out. I can finally rest easy now. Stress relieved. Time to drink a couple beers with my mind at ease both from finishing exams and finishing this diagnosis. 8)

Yeah, she's testing out pretty well right now. Just made a ~250 mile trip with no problems. I got lots of looks with my green wheels and the crap on my roof rack lol. She needs to be tuned pretty badly. Super rich and too much accel enrichment. I'll get to that when I have some time.

Here are some pics of how it was loaded up :)

Image

I think I'm going to sand these beasts down this week and get them black again. I had my fun being wild and getting noticed for a bit. Time to lay low. Or maybe light blue haha. Oh, and I really want to space these wheels out whenever I get the chance. They will look so much better that way. I do like them a lot.

Image

Gotta rep the awesome Marc Swanson and EFI Express...top notch all around ;) He's put up with a lot getting this damn car figured out. Big thanks to you Marc! I figured the least I could do is rep it on the 200.

You guys probably wont be hearing from me too much for a little while. I've got to figure out my job/internship situation before I can progress on the car because I need a little money to finish it up.

When I do get some cash flow (or sell a few things), first order of business is to get the Holset on...oh yeah, I guess I have to wait for 034 to finish the damn manifold and maybe get a spacer if the comp housing wont fit :(

The next thing in line for my attention is the A/C. I can't bear the heat anymore. I've done it for a year and a half now and I'm sick of it. A/C worked when I got the car and just quit one day. Comp spins when I jump the low pressure switch. System doesn't want to take a charge though. I'm thinking orifice tube is the first thing to address. Looking for leaks is next.

I'll be giving 034 some business by buying their throttle cam pretty soon...mine works fine in zip-tie form, but I'd rather have the peace of mind and safety of having something a little more legit than that lol.

From there I'll be addressing injectors and maybe some other parts of the fuel system. I may just go ahead and do a cell, surge tank, -8 lines, -8 rail, nice FPR, Aeromotive A1000, etc...or maybe I'll just throw injectors in and be done for now. Thats probably 1k in fuel parts, so maybe not. Injectors are going to suck regardless.

Rods, clutch, and steering rack come next.

Other things that have been floating around in my mind involve V8's. Either a manual V8Q for a plush dd or maybe a cheap 90, coupe, 4k, whatever I can get my hands on for a fun little project to swap a V8 into. OK, so maybe big project, but it would be fun to have something for me to tinker with without having to worry about it running the same day. Its definitely not good to have two projects at once, so maybe the V8Q is the best route to go ;)

I think thats about all thats on my mind. Time to get to toooonin!

Nice! What's wrong with having 2 projects? LOL. I just don't know if I would have two so similar projects... A 20v 200 And a v8q are almost the same car with a different engine. And as for a smaller car... That would be cool but I bet you would find yorself wishing you had the sick engine in the smaller lighter more nimble car.

Living In florida I think you should look into rwd. I love my audi but it's a hoot to dump the clutch and put the rear out sideways in the 5er, and the thing really likes the twisties even with clapped out susp. I can't imagine what it'll be like once it's all rebuilt with the c/o's

Hmm thats true. I do like RWD and have wanted to do a BMW for a while. I love E34's...the E34 V8's are terrible from what I hear though. Whatever it is it needs to be cheap. So that will dictate what it is. First thing that comes along thats cheap, I'm gettin it :)

I got mine running and driving for $700. The e34 is an amazingly well built car. They don't resist rust like a galvinized audi does but the e34 is better than the e28 or atleast that's what I've found. Living in Florida u prob don't have to worry about that anyway. Get one like mine with the big 6 m30b35. It's a 3.5L (well 3430 cc) with 208 up and 225 ft/lbs. I recently saw a dyno run of one... Stock except 19# mustang injectors (5% bigger or so) and 3" exh. Put down 190 wheel up and over 200 tq. A $225 chip will get you 43 more peak hp and like 30 more ft/lbs. They also take boost very well. Stock everything is good to about 400 whp. The e34 engime is 9:1 though... The e28 was 8:1... But thats still pretty turbo friendly. Oh and no timing belt either. There is a decent amount of aftermarket support too. See miller performance and turbocharging dynamics.

The issue was just a bad coil. It also had a bad vac line to the ECU, but that wasn't the main problem...I just tuned around that.

yeah, I do want to do an inline 6 eventually, but I think I have to go back to my roots soon and do something with a V8.

Right now I'm trying to figure out whats up with my AC. Trying to put in a new orifice tube right now as soon as I find out where it is. It wont take a charge so I assume its either clogged at the orifice tube or the compressor isn't taking it for some reason (comp runs fine though).

I'm 90% sure I'm picking up a 90q this weekend. Its not drivable, but the price is right. Can't really go wrong. I have enough parts that I could probably get it running (its a 20v), BUT I think I want to make it into a V8 project. :D Thoughts?!?!?!?!? I just want a stock V8 in there with a manual tranny. I'd be super happy with that. Seems like it could be done for relatively cheap. Car, motor, some mounts, and adapters for the tranny and I think I'd be set? My roommate can make it a megasquirt in a jiffy if need be :)
