Loxxrider's 200 20v Revver: See you on "The Project Pad"
Re: Loxxrider's 200 20v: impending Holset
I hear ya Mcstiff...I spose I'll just be rid of the stock lines then.
Hank, I guess that sounds like the best option then. I'll order some up pretty soon. We need to talk fuel rail this week too.
I also need to know what sizes the fittings are on the stock FPR or I could get the weldon one. Seems like a lot of adapter fittings though. Weldon is -10 in and out, rail is going to be -8, and line -6...makes no sense.

Its the old "since I'm here" snowball; a few more feet of SS line is better than a engine fire.

Nothing wrong with the hardlines until your trying to flow more than a single 044.

yep or pushing the envelope on 480whp is where a couple local (sea level) guys have hit the stock line limit
Re: Loxxrider's 200 20v: impending Holset
At which point, pennies are not really being pinched.
Re: Loxxrider's 200 20v: impending Holset
I'm not really pinching pennies here, just don't want to go thru the hassle of running new lines quite yet. I feel like I'd need a fuel cell to run the lines I want to run (-8). Its not worth running them unless I can do that.
Gotta go Weldon for base pressures of 100psi or more apparently.

You could use a surge tank as an adapter to the stock system.
Re: Loxxrider's 200 20v: impending Holset
Thats a great idea. Hmmmm
I'll have to look at what would be feeding the surge tank and how its set up, but that makes the post-surge tank setup very easy. -8 lines all the way, weldon FPR, rail, -8 return to...the surge tank?

Re: Loxxrider's 200 20v: impending Holset
Yeah, I guess to adapt without another pump you would need a sealed "tank" with the return running to the stock fuel tank.
Just run the -X line from the filter?
:edit: Later on he went -6 from the pump to the filter but kept the stock return.
audifreakjim wrote:I'm actually just running a braided -6 line from the fuel filter up to some bulkhead fittings by the brake booster. I'm going to retain the stock return line. I was thinking about doing a hard line, but didn't feel like screwing with it.

Re: Loxxrider's 200 20v: impending Holset
Well, the more I think about it I just can't justify doing the whole fuel system right now as much as I'd love to.
I understand how those Earl's fittings work now after Justrack explained them to me over the phone lol. So basically I need two of those, and I assume the rail will have two -8 male fittings on it. So I need to figure out what reg I'm using (would be nice to retain the stock one for now) and then how to run the lines to that.
Anyone know of the best way to adapt the reg to have -8 come into it for now?
So feeding to the rail I have that hard line adapter, then somewhere convert from -6 to -8.
Then from the rail, I have to convert from -8 to whatever the reg needs.
Are there special -AN fittings that need to be used with fuel? (I think we discussed this in here before, but I wasn't clear on it) or can regular ones work? O-ringed ones or something?
Sorry to be so stupid about this, but I haven't messed with fuel stuff aside from rubber lines and barbs with an inline Walbro haha.

Re: Loxxrider's 200 20v: impending Holset
after taking another look at the lines and routing on the car, its really tempting me to just do a cell...I feel like it can't be too much to do it. Mostly just cost of lines, reg, and the cell itself.
Its hard as hell to trace the lines from the filter to the other side of the car and my hard lines look pinched in places. Seems like it'd be a good idea to just do new ones.

Re: Loxxrider's 200 20v: impending Holset
If I were you Chris, I would buy a middle priced regulator like an aeromotive, or fuel lab unit that has good resale. Tube nut the lines to gt you to -6, use -8 oring to -6 flare coming off the rail, and spend 30 bucks on fuel fittings and hose. That will get you an adjustable setup that will push those 1000cc injectors up to around 1200cc and that will max out a future 044 and also your lines. You will have a max of 150-175 dollars into it, and the regulator will resale for 125 bucks or so. THe -6 return will be good up to 1000hp, so really the only thing you will bail on is the fuel feed. Thats a 30 dollar throwaway.

Re: Loxxrider's 200 20v: impending Holset
yeah, 'cept he double posts and thats no good
Ben, I don't want to mess with the 034 kit because its way too expensive and not really the lines I want.
so ermmm there are tube nuts already on the stock lines from what I can see. Is that a 14x1.5 pipe thread which I can get an adapter to -6 for?
I'm not worried about anything else. I can figure out the lines after the hardlines...but its the hardline to AN connection that kills me. Would love to just be able to use that nut thats already on there.

Re: Loxxrider's 200 20v: impending Holset
on another subject, I started noticing a lot of wear on my inside front tires. I got an alignment when I did my brakes (had to remove strut housings to get bearings off and on), but never got one after I did the coilovers. Been riding like that for about 15k miles lol. I'll get them rotated soon and aligned. Sucks though because now its got me thinking about adding more camber adjustment to my strut mount things that I have planned out, but I don't feel like thinking about it.

hey chris if you are trying to get the stocker fpr to fit still, i have one of the adapters for a drop in vwaud fpr
it has the an ins/outs and u can use and 3, 3.5,4,5 bar oem fpr
so its easy to plumb in w/o a ton of adapters, and u jsut need the generic audivw style fpr for whatever bar rating stock 3b is
