Loxxrider's 200 20v Revver: See you on "The Project Pad"
Re: Loxxrider's 200 20v: what to do with ps pump
Water manifold. A shorter pump would get it done I think. I'd just need some new hoses (which are needed anyway) right?

Re: Loxxrider's 200 20v: what to do with ps pump
I would highly recommend not removing your power steering and keeping brakes. These things are MISERABLE without power steering.
I don't however, have a good idea on what you should do. CQ Pump is a good chunk shorter and is hydro brakes and steering. might want to look into that

The 3b one? I guess I'm just trying to sort out what changed.

Re: Loxxrider's 200 20v: what to do with ps pump
time to go with an MR2 electric pump...
Re: Loxxrider's 200 20v: what to do with ps pump
Nope, its a modified AAN one. It isn't really working out for me though. I think the CQ or MR2 pump is definitely the way to go here. I can't really go back to the stock pump now because I went a little too crazy on it with the grinder lol. I guess I can make a cutaway of it or something now lol.
Phil, that is what I keep hearing about no ps in a t44. I've driven this car without it and it definitely wasn't great... but could have been worse I guess. Either way, it would certainly be a good idea to keep it. So I guess I need some measurements off of a CQ pump and maybe an idea of how well the fittings match up or not.

Re: Loxxrider's 200 20v: what to do with ps pump
I have a CQ pump in the garage that had a bad leak coming from somewhere, we replaced it with a good used one. I can get it to you for the cost of shipping if you're interested. I can try to get measurements but we all know how reliable I am for getting measurements....

Re: Loxxrider's 200 20v: what to do with ps pump
Is it the outlet of the water manifold or the whole thing?
Could you move the outlet if it's in the way?

When I pull my intake for gaskets I'll take some pics of the CQ pump.

never even consider leaving out power steering, you will grow to HATE it very shortly.
Re: Loxxrider's 200 20v: what to do with ps pump
OK OK, I wont consider it lol. Ed, the main thing I need is fitting sizes, overall length and width, and mounting system.

also look at the later 24v vr6 pumps there are small ev en comapred to b3 /2 stuff
Re: Loxxrider's 200 20v: what to do with ps pump
Thanks, will do.
I've been thinking about what to do with my IC piping... it won't be ideal whatever it is, but a few extra feet of pipe isn't going to make much difference in a turbo that doesn't have very good transient response in the first place.
The only logical way I can think to do it which will still clear the hood is as follows:
out the top of the IC, behind the pass headlight, under the pass fender area, then up to where the stock fuel filter resides (it will be gone), and over to the TB. Thoughts? It will allow all of the pretty work Hank did to have its own area to showcase itself

Have you considered an AWIC to save room?

Re: Loxxrider's 200 20v: what to do with ps pump
What about your air filter is there room for it and the IC pipe behind the pass headlight?
Do you have room to rotate the compressor housing and have the turbo discharge into the top intercooler nozzle. Out the bottom of the IC, do you have room to route the pipe under the turbo? In other words, reverse flow direction of IC.

Re: Loxxrider's 200 20v: what to do with ps pump
Ben, I don't think an AWIC would really free up much room. I could clock the comp housing and maybe have the AWIC in the fender, but I really don't like the idea of running one. I'd rather just have an air-to-air since you don't have to add ice, have a heat exchanger, etc.
Jeff, there is enough room for the air filter. I did consider this lol. I also thought about your idea to clock the comp housing and route the piping under the turbo, but there just isn't enough room. That definitely would have been cool/ideal. I really don't see any other option, but I might be missing something!

Re: Loxxrider's 200 20v: what to do with ps pump
You don't have to add ice to a AWIC. New Ford trucks run a AWIC on the Diesel and it works out pretty well. I think the AWIC would be more efficient and shorten up the distance from the turbo to intake.

Re: Loxxrider's 200 20v: what to do with ps pump
Aaron seems to be quite happy with an AWIC, although he runs an ice tank because his CQ is drag car..
You might have to get creative with the HE. I am sure you can find some space behind the grill or in the bumper somewhere.

Re: Loxxrider's 200 20v: what to do with ps pump
See, that is my point... I wouldn't be freeing up any space with an AWIC because the heat exchanger is needed. This is not a drag car. In my opinion, AWIC only has its place in a drag car. They add more weight, more complexity, and have declining efficiency (if ice is used) compared to a properly set up air-to-air. The heat removal rate is higher, but I just don't think it is worth it on a road car.
The intake path wouldn't really be much shorter anyhow. It only eliminates the pipe going from turbo outlet to the intercooler in the air-to-air setup.

Re: Loxxrider's 200 20v: what to do with ps pump
yes aaron is happy with his setup, but he is also a fully dedicated drag car. not a daily drive able car. I wouldnt run an AWIC on daily car, air to air is much easier.

Scuba Steve is AWIC right?
The Cobolt, CTS-v, and ZR-1 use AWICs IIRC

Re: Loxxrider's 200 20v: what to do with ps pump
Thats cool and all, but I still don't want it lol. Maybe on another car. This car can use E85, meth, whatever... no need for heavy AWIC

I've thought about good ways to do it but I'm sticking with simple.

I am going to personally run an AWIC on mine. The reservoir will eventually be in the trunk, opposite to the battery. Then the heat exchanger will be a lil-guy infront of the rad.
