Just a hydraulic pressure switch. No pressure = open, pressurized = closed. Should be much more reliable than what's there from the factory. At the same time, you wouldn't have to press it to the floor, so a seperate toggle to activate/deactivate the launch control would be in order (edit:which you'd want anyway, so moot point).

yeah its a basic hydro activated brake light switch, and yes also a main activate/arm switch

They are only 20 bucks at your local motorcycle supply store.

The stock switch works as soon as you touch the pedal since it has to be used for cancelling cruise control. I really don't see how the two would be any different. I have mine on a switch as well, but are you really going to launch, flip the switch, then shift? It will screw you every time unless you can adjust the point at which the switch engages.

Ah, right. How about a way to only do it in first gear? Arm/activate toggle switch, clutch switch in series with a switch on the shift lever in first gear...or even just wheel-speed dependent perhaps?

Whoa, waaay too complicated for me after a long day in the sun lol. OK I get it now. I really don't see why you guys want it on the clutch. You should be loading up the trans with the ebrake every time you launch (in my opinion) anyway, so I find this to be the best place. Once you practice it a time or two, it becomes extremely easy and functional. If you do want it on the clutch though, I think those are good options.

No-lift shift definitely needs to be on the clutch. That one would give me the same problem, but having adjustable engagement would really work wonders for that.

I like your point on the ebrake switch for launch control. The clutch switch would still need to be there for no lift shifting like you said. running the launch control off of the clutch switch is overcomplicated. no lift shift though, thats another story. if you're hellbent on running the launch control off of the clutch pedal somehow, id just use an old school floor mounted light switch, just take it apart and make it momentary.

This is the beauty of standalone... you can really try anything you want and just see what works for you. If you have an idea, go try it!

well ya, so we are running ALS/no lift as well as a launch setup

was thinking about running the clutch hydro with a pair of console switches, one for off/arm, als/nolift and the other as a push in, then clutch in, release hand button, then launch

also running a vertical hydro handbrake and no cablebrake

the toggle switch on the switch board near the shifter and the hold to activate launch button location tbd

If you look at inputs and outputs needed for Launch Control vs ALS/Flat shift you could probably come up with a system to differentiate between the two. Just turn on a FUNK switch to activate and the system decides if you are launching or shifting. Some ideas here but not 100% http://www.vems.hu/wiki/index.php?page= ... hAndOthers

What you just described was too complicated for me to comprehend in my current state. I need to get out of Saudi! (too much work, no time off) Good thing I start making my way back home on Thursday :)

I'm running launch control and no lift shift off the factory clutch shift with my IIc. Both work as intended. I think it took Preston 15 minutes to wire it up.

ive gotta ask, how well does the 01E take the NLS feature? i feel like if i tried that at 8,800rpm...it would just fall out of the car.

I'm thinking:

LC=TPS 100% Clutch 100% Ebreak 100%
ALS= TPS <50% Clutch 100% Ebreak 0%
NLS= TPS >90% Clutch 100% Ebreak 0%

Clutch and ebreak either = 0 or 100 (off/on)

Seems like 3 unique triggering situations.

I guess the question is if you really want to have all 3 available at once. The ALS would be hard to avoid under "normal" driving practices but NLS would have to be pretty intentional (hitting the clutch with >90% TPS). Maybe you would want two switches on a street car, depending on how often you are playing with LC.

well im trying to figure out my vems 16vt LC and ALS jsut for fun

the vrt cq will get all three and they will get used a lot


on the cq id liek to have LC with and without ALS, on a momentary, hold in, depress clutch, replease button while holding clutch in, and its ready to go

also ALS with its own ARM switch, so it would be on(amred) and activated by clutch line hydro switch
and a NLS switch to ARM only when ALS is armed, activated by clutch hydro switch

Keep it going, this might be the largest thread! I started linking to milestones within my thread on the first post. I think it works well, I just need to keep adding to it.
