The optics Derek has are from a later (2002+) C5 A6 with bi-xenon housings. I dont recall the exact part number. I think one or both of the optic assemblies were salvaged from headlamps damaged in shipment and are essentially brand new. Regardless... Thumbs up Derek.

well, i guess it's a bit of an update time. the last couple days have been spent chasing my tail in finding a freak accident as far as we can tell. here's how it went down....

saturday i integrated the 3B wires into the plugs under the 4kq panel, which btw are all in empty spots and makes the job pretty much plug and play. after i had done this, shortly afterward i went to put the fuse panel in place and like a bonehead, forgot to unhook the battery for safety sake. well, i totally zapped something and dead shorted the G31 wire which is the ground (31) circuit in the fuse panel for hte fuel pump relay, load reduction relay, and the wiper relay. great.... so i freak out and run to disconnect the battery wire. open to doors to let the smoke air out :P then start digging to find the wire and where it went. it did cross a few other wires and cause some damage, so i fixed those, fixed the fried wire, the put everything back up in place with the battery disconnected this time! everything's peachy keen right? nah, it smoked the same wire again for some flippin reason. man... head scratcher.

we've had the fuse panel out, checked everything we can possibly check, we've changed the fuse panel with one from a 5kt (which is completely interchangable and the same part # FYI), no difference. hook everything up ... man, now i have like, power back tracking somewhere... long story short it ended up being the blue and green plugs under the fuse panel got switched

sooo, fixed that, went over everything, unwrapped a bunch of the 3B harness to eliminate extra wires and clean it up, re wrapped it, installed everything up... double check everything :P started it up last night and everything seems ok. this time we have a fuse on the one ground wire so as to avoid the possible wire melting fire thing again.

so, pic time :P
first smoked wire..

second smoked wire...

the ground connection it went to under the steering column..

a near nightmare...

rewrapped 3b harness..

my "office" for the last two days

inbetween the wiring crap i did get the throttle cable modded. i use a 22ga non-seamed butt connector, and smashed it nicely with the hammer on the head of the vise. it got hot for some reason :P

big thanks to steve eiche on giving me some of his time to pick his brain on some possibilities here, and to my dad who has given me several hours free of charge :P

hopefully soon i'll have some more updates on the intercooler. i cut it the other day for rewelding to fit.

How many layers did you use to make it looks so wrinkly? I looked at a few forums, impreza mostly and some look like regular red paint.

a few layers is all you need. just play with it on some spare stuff to get the hang of it.

Seem like it might be easier to just wire everything in on a relays NASCAR style but then that would not be OEM....

a little more got done yesterday. i worked on the vacuum line routing for stuff.

i built a hardline for the IM to vacuum brake booster like this....

find some hard plastic line, and then used the heat gun to soften it and slide it over a piece of pre-bent metal line and then let it cool to the right shape...
Image

this is the finished product
Image

installed...
Image

plumbed the vacuum lines for everything at the back of the IM...
Image
Image

and ran a plastic hardline down to the BPV..
Image

that's it for now. we'll see what progresses today :)

Derek,

Is the vacuum check valve at the booster the stock Audi one, or something else?

NO NO NO, come on Derek you go to all this trouble then you use cable ties as hose clamps!!! (shakes head in utter disgust :bashtard: )
Use the proper clamps, it is so much better, heck if you can't get them I'll send you some :slap:

yeah, i couldn't find any clamps small enough for now, and i need like 20 of them :) zip ties will suffice for now. i'm not going to run 30-40psi ;) it held a few hoses on my white car for a few years with no issues.
