thanks! i think they have been lost though :(

ok, N75's a clickin' when i give it 12v.

annnnd i forgot to give the boost reference hose off the face of the turbo compressor housing the clamps... so that showed up right away in my leak testing. also had a teeny leak at my boost gauge hose under the hood.

took it out for a spin and it's still a bit laggy, but on the boost... ZOIKS SCOOB... this thing moves out. just pulls like a mad hatter to 120 where i let up in 4th :D. i came home to grab my G-tech and go give er' a few shake downs, but the cig. lighter doesn't wanna play today.

i should get some decent 0-60 times because i can touch 60 at the top of second gear with the 20v's rev limit and my gearing. the grinding 4th gear is really annoying though :( i'm gonna have to find a tranny soon...

on my private closed course ;) test area i came to a stop at a T intersection as another *racecar* went buy, and then i nailed it and blew by him in 3rd@110. he took another route of the race course than i did, but a few minutes later as i headed back to the *paddock* i drove right in front of him while he was stopped at another intersection. he stared at me and i smiled and waved as i cruised on by. hehehe, man this is fun.... so much more fun than the 20vt was. not quite the instant punch i was used to, but i have a feeling after not too long i'll be rid of that 8)

Boy good thing you thought of pressure testing..... :bump:

After currently owning a 20vT chipped myself too, yeah the torque surge of a 20vt was fun, but it's certainly no 20vT... :(

i took lt. sarge out for a spin today, and wrung it out pretty good.... man it's awesome. i gotta get some decent video of it to post up. i found out that my speedo is about 7mph off throughout the range, and i dunno why.... i have another cluster that i'll be putting in shortly and see how that works, but even at 7mph happy, it still blitzed 138 in a real hurry, and the chassis is well settled at that speed, not twitchy like i was anticipating with the shorter steering arms. for a string alignment, it's pretty decent :P

a comment on the brakes. i have the A4 288mm rotors with A4 G57 single piston slider calipers, rubber lines, a leaking proportioning valve, and the original small bore master cylinder, and WOW does this thing haul down fast. i would wager almost as good as my old porsche brake setup... no lies. it would be interesting to try some aggressive pads on it and see how it goes from there. i was really wanting to do a brake upgrade because that's always a good thing... but shoot, there's really no reason to IMO.

That sounds more like an offset issue than an issue with incorrect ratio. Adjusting the needle (assuming it can be tweaked) could get you right where you need to be with a bit of testing.

At least on the B3s, there's a blank knob sticking out of the face of the cluster (looks the same as the trip odo reset), that can be removed, revealing an adjuster for something. I forget if it's for the fuel tank level trim, or for the speedo trim--but might be worth looking in to, maybe?

I'm sure its for the fuel trim.

The chip really transforms the car, ehh?? I just wish I could put my 200 on a diet to lose about 700lbs. It must be nice...anyway... fix your lighter, and put the G-tech to work!!! :-D (very curious)

yeah, the chip works awesome..... i can't wait to get my header, bigger turbo and free flowing exhaust on it and really hear the engine some more. it's kind of freaky quiet now.

Nice :woowoo: I'll tell you what I wanted one of those fancy forge or turbosmart bpv/bov's but I now get a nice pssh just letting off the gas. :drive:

i've got one of the 034 alu. BPV's and it works good i guess :P i can only hear it a little at low speeds if i'm abrupt on letting off on the throttle.

Derek-
On your A4 brake calipers - did you make custom brake lines? My understanding is that, (on an urq at least - I'm assuming 4kq is the same), the stock thread-in brake line does not fit the A4 caliper - as it uses a banjo bolt.

What say you?

thx

i did just use the stock lines. the A4 calipers have a hardline that comes off of them originally, and i just deleted that.

only rear calipers AFAIK have banjo fittings, and even then, it's only on some.

So used the stock 4kq brake lines, correct?

Derek, what size caliper is the a4? I am looking at this setup right now, and there is an A8 locally being parted, and it has 57 ATE brakes, tha tis just a single piston.. what say you?
derracuda

Post by derracuda »

yeah G57's are the pieces that i have. they really do work great, and i've had 4 piston fixed calipers on 321mm rotors... not saying they are better, but for the money.. hard to beat, and MUCH better than G60's, and lighter too.

BC my dad has TT brakes, and they are 54s.. Will I use all the stuff off the a8? The cariers, lines and rotors?
derracuda

Post by derracuda »

rotors yes, carriers no (HP2 style bolt pattern IIRC), and lines i'm not sure on... but that isn't hard to remedy once you have calipers on hand.

Well Derek, how hard is it to come up on TT carriers? wouldnt I just want to look for TT brakes to begin with? Do the A4s have the right carrier? What year a4 and does it need to be quattro(ala the 97 non quattro 1.8t at the junkyard..)

Post by derracuda »

psshhh, i dunno man... i'm reverse engineering what the 5ktq/200 guys can do, and that's put A8 brakes on their cars using the A8 caliper and rotor, and TT carrier.
