I thought the rings were oging to be rosette welded as well, but Derek's projects have never let me down before. I think he will make it look nice.

I do not think the picture does the fuel rail justice. If he powdercoats it and leaves the script plain, I think it will look nice. It isnt like he has it on the valve cover or anywhere else.

You should look into aluminum brazing- the bicycle industry uses it quite a bit and a weldor friend says it is something easy to learn, it's just that nobody does it here. Or you could tap into the manifold itself (heaven forbid) and the thread in the rings directly. It wouldn't be a lot of thread but you could keep the underside clean with a proper length allen bolt and use a good thread locker. I wouldn't think it would create enough of a stress riser to blow out, but I could be very wrong...

drill a couple holes in the rings, puddle-weld them up, grind flush, polish rings and VIOLA.

holes are in the rings already for the screws, so they could be welded there. i'll worry about how to mount them when i get back from my trip. right now i wanna get the runners and base plate welded so that it's useable at least. i'm tired of taping it up to fit it on the car :P

i'll look into rosette welding... never done that.... i guess i might need to learn something new again :)

Personally the way the rings are mounted arn't my taste either, but it's a work in progress. Derek will figure out what looks best to him. I highly doubt he will let us down!
