Hanks URQ 2.6L Autopsy
I think my wife is going also.....can i come and play too? Oh, I almost forgot I already wore out my tires last week and might get into trouble with the wife if I tried to bug out again this weekend plus I still think it is a recipe for trouble, but fun trouble. LOL
About that miss Hank...I hope you aren't going to blame my IIc, cause if you are just go ahead and bring it back. The only reason I let you use it is that I couldn't bear the thought of seeing Darin and Dave crying and thought I would try to save the last bit of credibility you still had with them. I knew that if you didn't bring the Ur home this time it would be all over but the teasing.

Ok what do you guys think....

Okay, so they are in there, and they fit great. I used some textured plastic that actually matches the 5ktq texture pretty darn well. They are secured, and are ready to be hooked up. I will get to that in a second. What is great about the 4k/URQ dash is that the cluster is broken up into three sections, the tach, the dummy lights(with the boost and gas gauge) and the speedometer. The board is in that flexible plastic stuff, so I just peele that up made the 5ktq gauges fit, and then put them back over the top. All of the dummy lights work as does the light. I will backlight the gauges as soon as I get the two gauges to work.
So here is my problem, and I really need some help from you guys. I know some of you guys have played with these things. I am working out of an appartment with limited tools. I can only get it to work if I am helped a little bit.
OK, so the Tach has three wires. I should have maybe put a meter on the gauge cluster before I started to pull it apart, but I need to know what the three wires are for. Obviously the 034 IIc will drive one of the wires, but will the other two just be power and a ground? Any way to find that out without just trial and error. The interesting thing is that the later Dashes in the CQ have 4 wires for the tach. The backlight is independent of the tach....

Now on to the Speedometer. I am going to use the speed sensor out of hte 5ktq. I have not aquired one yet, but I think they are 3 wire sensors.
I am hoping that those wires come strait from the sensor and to the speedometer, but that cant be that easy.
Here are the three wires.

Really I appriciate any help on this.

No error, just trial! I hope things go as well with the Speedo. I met up with Darin tonight and Scott my cousin is over there right now drooling. The funniest story happened. I had my URQ in the driveway of Darins house, and Daves clean CQ was out on the curb, and Darins beast was in the garage. All of a sudden a guy rolls up in a Cossi Mercedes 190 and we hear "sweet Coupe Quattro! " He stopped and looked at the cars, and was really enjoying it.

I feel your pain man!! I missed Hank by minutes, but got a chance to drool over Darin's Lago - man have I got the itch!!! Every time I see a fast audi, my poor cq gets slower and slower.
Yeah Derek, I dont know how I missed your post, but it really worked out great. I need to post the backside of the gauge cluster to show how I made them fit in there. The tach is requires practically no cutting whatsoever. THe Speedo is kindof a pain.
Here is the finished product. I deleted the radio and added some gauges ( I have the Innovate DB wideband gauge, EGTs and Fuel pressure on that slot now..)

Small update on the URQ.... I figure that this one needs to be updated before I move onto the S6 project.
Okay so I have been making some manifold lately. So I whipped up this manifold for my URQ.

I had some fuel rails made and they came out great. The best part is that I do not have to deal with the PITA bolts that the old ANN manifold required. It is super easy to get the thing on and off. I even threw in a Phenolic Spacer courtesy of 034MS. They also supplied an Rs2 Fan and shroud that is a nice fit... I am up here in Utah now, and right now, it is cold as hell.. ( 12 hours in the shop today at 11 degrees...) But I have my eyes on a Millers event in May and I am tired of running hot...
I think the Header brace is new since the last time I have updated as well. I developed a crack on the collector, and since this brace has gone on, no more cracks. YeeHaaa.. I am working on a valve cover as well that will try and baffle more of the oil before it goes into a catch can. I am so sick of oil everywhere..
I think that is about it. I got some 245-45-16s for this car so when spring rolls around, it can hit the road again!!! I got some low mile TT calipers and Pads to put on a8 rotors, and after pooping another stock Prop valve, I sprung for the Wilwood valve. It is going to be nice to have brakes behind this car...
Think that may be it for now.
