White wheels look great!! What kind of paint did you paint them with? Or what kind would work and not brown from brake dust?

Thanks,
Chris

Apply liberally and then wipe off the excess with a dry rag. Thats what I been doing on my leather, plastic, and spoiler.

I am having a nasty cutout at most likely my torque peak. It is wierd though because I can hold the brake and the thing will hold 32psi al the way through the revs t 8500. If I just roll on, it has some flat spots down low nd then again up top. Ideas?

I'm sure your AFR looks good (if it doesn't then you know your problem). Nasty cutout usually has been fuel cut in my experience with it. Feeling flat tends to be spark. Maybe its just the difference in where your peak torque is hitting when you roll on vs when you brake boost.

I think the wires are the problem. I need to build some, but I dont know what is so intimidating about it.. I guess I just need to man up and do it. I want to put them behind the firewall while I am doing it too.

Anybody have personal favorites for high boost wires?

Yes Sean, In Vegas, I was running 23psi for the weekend as I was still 2.5Bar in the Ecu. Now I am running the 4 bar, and 32psi never felt so good.. In the mornings when it is still cool out, I can get clean pulls everywhere... As things start to heat up, the miss starts to show up... People htat have been in pretty fast cars have reported that it scares the poop out of them. It truly does. When the chassis unsettles at 70mph, the BH puckers a bit. I think this car is past the stage where you can just throw anybody the keys and tell them to take it to redline in second or third. I trust a select few with those honors now..

I don't think the engine knows how to run right using your IIc instead of mine. That build hasn't ever seen anything other than my IIc. Are you sure it's not spark that's having a hard time with ignition at that peak torque point. Revving versus pulling a load is way different as far as having enough spark energy. How are the plugs and plug wires?

I am pretty darn sure it is ignition. I point to wires. I swapped in new plugs, and even swapped a known good coil for each of the coils today. Nothing changed. A couple of the wires are very suspect. I am going to build a set and see what changes. It is also important to note that the car pulls just fine at 24psi, or if I give it 70 percent throttle, but still hit 32psi. Only WOT 28 plus psi gives the break up. I describe it as that, as it is not a flat spot in power. It hicups and then gets through it and keeps pulling.

Hehe. I hit my overboost limit this morning and it resulted in a huge fireball out the back of the car and a giant plume of black smoke that the cars behind me had to drive through. I was laughing all the way to work.

The symptoms you mention are why I switched to the HO coils, I was always chasing a weaker coil. I haven't looked back since.

For wires, I used the 034 wires, cut the coil side off and crimped on MSD connectors to make them the correct length. MSD sells a crimper die that fits in a vice that works well and is cheap.

You can get the 034 wires without the coil ends on them, so you can cut to length. They were plenty long for me and my coils are mounted in the interior, on the firewall.
Definitely go with the HO coils.

I will have to look, but I am using the multiplier to it's max value on full boost

yeah, do look. I am running 4MS base with to an eventual 1.5 multiplier( or 6MS) above 250kpa. That puts me at a 60% duty cycle on boost for the coils. I don't know what is acceptable.

I'm running something like 2.5ms then increasing in the lowest cell and under boost of course. Running lots of dwell at cruise eats plugs IME, at least with these 034 coils.

3.5 ms with 2.5 mulitplier I believe at full boost. You can run a lot of dwell with 5 coils

wasted spark? Shit Jim, that is a ton of dwell for sure. I was feeling guilty for running a calculated 6ms. You are running 9ms+. What do duty cycles on the coils look like in your logs?

Re: Hanks 81 URQ, Daily Driver status!!! Pictures

I was a little off. 3MS and 2.1 multiplier @ 28 psi.

Logs show 82% at 7700 rpms and 270 KPA. I could probably reduce it a little, I actually felt a very slight miss today when it was really cool and humid right before overboost hit. Could have been too much dwell, or just too much boost!

dude that is seriously a lot of dwell

I think you might prematurely kill your coils running that much all the time. I'm only running 2.5 at cruise right now and it goes up to like 3.5 on boost. That has worked for me so far on the Holset, but granted only tested to about 17psi. Regardless, I'd try and get your static dwell down to 2.5 or lower and ramp it up from there.

We're running our coils at a much lower duty cycle than you, Chris, so even if unnecessary, it's proven to be very reliable.
