Re: Julian's '91 200 20vt
Roger that. I just reverted most of my start up settings in those areas to figures from the original base cfg I was provided. I was bandaid-ing the issue so I'll hit my VE table and elsewhere to correct the issues. Thanks Nick, I didn't realize that the #'s in the base cfg were good for nearly all types of modifications except for certain things. I figured they were all fair game for change as long as it ran or I perceived that it ran correctly

Re: Julian's '91 200 20vt
That said, I just looked at some configs I have here and they also have ~200 micro seconds in that setting... If in doubt, press F1 and VEMSTune will give you a recommendation of what to put there. It agrees that ~200 is a good value to use. I always ran 192 in my tune FYI.

Re: Julian's '91 200 20vt
I deleted most of this post as I found out just how stupid my engineering brain can be sometimes. I was having a hiccup that was actually due to a lean area in my VE table that the tune by statistics had done for me at one point. I cant believe I didn't notice it. But heres a legit question I have:
Is it possible for these 6 pin TPS's to show the % correctly in VEMS but have issues with the other outputs it sends? I see no issues in my logs reading the % I apply of the throttle.
Power is down after switching injectors. Kind of a let down in that regard. I am thinking the 7A FPR will be my next step. Im going outside to unfuck my VE table...

One more question besides about the TPS failure mode. I just got a usb Bluetooth dongle off ebay for my laptop so I don't need to keep changing the serial connector around when going from my laptop to VEMS display on my phone. Anyone get one of these working? I don't imagine it would be considered a GPS connection in VEMS but I also don't see it being a TPS connection.

Marc pointed me I'm the right direction. SPP is the only way to pull this off. It's not supported by the cheap do glee I bought though :( gonna get a different one now

Holler if you Don give a damn lol. I found this to be the cheapest dongle offering SPP capability: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/iogear-blue ... cat0515012
It has a 3 yr warranty and usually breaks in 3 weeks bahahahha... so I bought one
. Others cost $60+ so you choose. As I don't have it yet, I have no idea if it will work to replicate the COM port for use in VEMStune as advertised. I'll have mine b4 the 19th anyway. FYI it's half off right now.

Re: Julian's '91 200 20vt
Right so the USB to Bluetooth idea was a complete failure simply due to me owning a damn windows 8 laptop
It would appear that NO complex BT functionality is supported by this OS which means its a pile IMO. I tried an old XP laptop which couldn't open the COM port either so I gave up.
I have two important questons now however:
Q1: Does knock sensing get disabled while taking a log with VEMSdisplay on android as well? I know it does when the loptop is logging.
Q2: I am having a difficult time fine tuning my WOT data because I have found that sometimes my lambda delay is 700 ms and sometimes as low as 400 ms when looking at my logs. Do I look .5 seconds further down my log plot at WOT to determine what the lambda "was" .5 seconds previously?
Thank you all. The second question is my biggest tuning hurdle at the moment!

no. it gets disabled if you are using the internal SD card logging feature. serial laptop logging is different.

you shouldn't be looking at lambda during transients anyway. if you are seeing your lambda move around, isolate the load cell of interest an try and dwell on it with constant throttle (its easy on the dyno, on the street you can use your brakes to help stop the car from accelerating if needed).

Thanks again Marc. Hey while I got ya here, I'm running the meth injection on the provided ignition table from you and my fueling looks pretty darn good if not more rich at 3k rpm's to redline. I'm using 93 octane and about 35% meth/water ratio. Is it safe to add 2 degrees timing all the way from 3.5k to 5k rpm (max boost and fueling)? If that's not a good idea I won't mess with it until I make/buy the knock phones wiring.

Re: Julian's '91 200 20vt
It's just the -20 F washer fluid which I watered down slightly but then spiked with 1 bottle of heet so I have no inkling what % it is now lol. I didn't go 50:50 the first time through as I was using the smallest nozzle offering with the pump duty cycle on lowest setting but still getting too dramatic of an enrichment. I could still do it but I'd have to dump my 5 gallon, almost full, reservoir :( and start over.
That's awesome thanks for the advice. I'll be ordering the wiring I think in a week seeing as my iteration will need to use aluminum foil for insulation lol.

Re: Julian's '91 200 20vt
right so today my 5 year old used AEM meth controller went full retard while drifting through a Walmart exit light. It shorted out and was sending full voltage directly through the methanol pump in the trunk where I couldn't hear it. It had an internal electrical fire and baked itself right into a delicious crispy treat. I smelled it first and drove a few blocks when I looked behind me at the area where a back bench seat would normally lay and saw a small plume of smoke coming from next to the battery where the controller sits. Holy F$#@!! Now rewind 24 hours...
Im in the back seat of my car following the wiring instructions of an AEM phone tech support guy from memory and that's why my back bench seat was out/still out 24 hours later. I ended up not liking his idea when the relay that was to run my new coolingmist (could be described as awesome and billet!!) methanol solenoid started clattering and the controller would skip a beat twice at high duty cycle during testing. screw that it sounds ridiculous and looks dangerous! I did it my own way using an adjustable pressure switch I had left over from my archaic "audiworld boxerfan audi 5000 aux cold start fuel injector mod days" and Im sure a very select few actually are aware of what Im talking about lol. I essentially separated the circuit for the solenoid completely from the rest of the methanol system.
I left the seat off today simply because it was about -10 F outside. So the way I wired my solenoid combined with the leaving of the seat bench out of the car, saved my very healthy 3b motor today from an ignorant AEM phone support guy's "guess"
Anyway, to thank AEM, I went ahead and bought the new v2 controller on amazon an hour ago...

At the risk of coming across like a wet blanket, I'd never go with AEM.
Probably because they're so popular in the ricer world... but something about them just feels cheap.
Then again, you got skunked with Vems as well. So who knows?

Re: Julian's '91 200 20vt
I've heard they're bottom shelf meth injection solutions but I saved $450 on my gently used 5 gallon diesel kit on CL. It was a budget purchase for sure. 5 years of no issues (on 2 chassis) besides the check valve being garbage! I have had to rewrap with silicone tape and zip ties like once a week from it always busting leaks. I've had my turbo and DP covered in washer fluid more times than I'm comfortable with lol. Thank you though for sharing your experience/thoughts. I did get the new controller wired in yesterday. Used exact same wiring as old controller and worked first start. I'm entirely convinced that my following of the tech's wiring advice roasted the circuit or weakened it. 24 hours just can't be a coincidence in this case, given its dependability record over the years

Just a quick update. AEM looks like they are genuinely concerned about why the controller failed the way it did so they emailed me a shipping label. Pretty good guy Stephen (sp?) has been heading up the inquest Over there. I am glad I bought the updated controller so far and their show of concern only instills those feelings more so.

Some thoughts and questions.
Has anyone found a way to update the wiper fluid sprayers on the type 44 hoods?
It looks like the new AEM controller either sprays more overall or the deletion of the check valve has me running .70 lambda at WOT. Gotta take out some fuel now.
Lastly I have an Idea for a bumper sticker:
"Only jihadi militants don't use their turn signals!" It's hard hitting
