My 91 200 project (tons of pics)

Post by maverick »

Hey guys I haven't taken the time to post much so I thought I would unload some pics of my 91 200 ongoing project/daily driver.
I found a pretty great deal, and flew out to denver to purchase this high mileage but unmolested 91 200 for just 1100 bucks.

First, I picked up some second hand mercedes wheels.

Next job was to replace those old UFO brakes. Got some HP2 calipers from a B5 S4 from the junk yard for $30.
Image

Cleaned them up, rebuilt them, then powder coated them myself.

Had to resize my hub a bit to make them fit.

That looks a bit better.

Installed some 7A cams, and while I was in there did a little powder coating.

I got pretty lucky, and someone in a Uhaul hit my bumper while I was parked outside of my girlfriend's house.
Image
Uhaul cut me a check for $2200. Twice what I paid for the car. I spent $200 on a bumper from a V8 quattro, and the remaining 2 grand on a new turbo and hardware! :ty:

Then the turbo goodness! :guns: I got a garrett gt3071r ball bearing turbo. I also installed a high flow log manifold and did a full custom exhaust at some point.

Old busted next to new hotness.

A blanket for when my turbo gets cold at night.

Since then I switched to VEMS, installed 1200cc injectors, a 300lph fuel pump, a spec stage 3+ clutch, and switched to E85, tuned by me. And did some random small stuff. Coil upgrade, short shift kit, mounts, etc. Then a few weeks ago I moved to California from Nebraska, and hauled everything I own behind it in a uhaul trailer.

I couldn't resist the opportunity to take her out on the salt flats in in Utah, trailer and all. She got a little squirrely around 100mph :hide:

Well that's my project! Nothing too fancy, just a daily driver with a bit of boost to keep me happy. ;) Thanks for looking!

Haha this is awesome. How much boost are you running?

What are your future plans?

I have been kind of perpetually fiddling with my settings, but as of right now I'm running maybe 25-27psi.

Future plans include settling down, getting married, maybe a couple kids. Who knows.

I'm not really sure about future car plans. Probably take care of some suspension items. Just kind of freshen things up with bushings and the like, then coilovers. It kind of depends on my employment. Just did a "trial day" of work at a fairly well known Audi shop, and if I get the job I will have access to all sorts of new tools and toys.
