Lol.

They were Bosch... Something. Recommended by Marc, who had no issues with them on stock wiring S4/S6s. But my wiring wasn't stock and I had my coils directly above the ecu, but separated by the firewall. Ie some thin steel.

Typically but not always, an R in the plug name indicates a resistor. The NGK BKR#xxx (BKR7E for example) are resistored.

My motor liked the 8 heat range ngk racing plugs with no resistor. The IIc ECU with Magnecor wires didn't have a problem. I tried those same plugs on the 07k and vems and it was noise city. Would never run right.

I wonder if that's been my problem all along. That being said, what are the recommendations you guys have?

I used to run the tri-electrodes but always had issues with misfires.

Oh weird. Never had issues with them here, just availability.

So funny how some plugs work and others don't for different people. The NGKs have been our go to for probably 3 years now. I use them in my Allroad as well.

Car is going to be mint when you get it back. Also, I just love the profile of your Dunlops on those wheels. Perfect proportions.

Re: Ben's Oceanic 4kqt - Feeling Nostalgic

Post by 85oceanic »

Feeling a bit nostalgic for Oregon so I thought I'd just re-share a post from a few years back when I first got Oceanic on the road with the Holset H1C/K26 hybrid with the 016 trans...

(FEB-24-2013)

So today I went for my first real 'long' drive in Oceanic to wrap up the 500 break in miles. I spent the day giving family members rides in it, cruised around, took lots of pictures and just caused general mayhem. :P The car did fantastic all things considered. It's a great feeling having something you built actually work. :D Anyways, the weather was ridiculous on the drive home, but other than that, all in all it was a great time. Here are some pics from the day along with an LC video. :D

Gas stop before I left town...

Image

Snapped a couple shots on my way up to my parents...

Image

Image

After hanging out for a bit, my brother and I decided to go cruise around for a bit, we took a few pictures while we where out...

Image

Image

Image

Image

SO while we where out, I HAD to try my LC, I screwed up at first but the second time I got it ok. Not a perfect launch by any means, but still fun non the less. :P OH and my brother, he is used to his Mini Cooper S :P

Anyways, grand total the car racked up well over 200 hard miles on it and I used less than a 3/4 of a tank the whole time, I couldn't be happier with this dang car at the moment.

Well... except now I need to turn up the boost. :D

I'm excited just seeing that primer on there.

The 56k reference isn't that funny to me because I'm pretty sure my satellite-based internet at the rig isn't much better lol

Thanks guys! I think it's going to look pretty good once it's all said and done with wheels, proper tires and correct hight set. I anticipate picking it up on December 17th so I can go back together with it.
