Thanks guys.
More progress on the car.
Welded most of the slots left in the car
Fender slots welded for the most part and patch panel on pass. side
One of the Radiator outlets is framed in and welded
Also cut down the Tailight to make room for more RAD. outlets

Re: Audi Coupe with Porsche 944 Box Flairs
Side Rad. air outlets are done so I can weld on the rear quarters. This is why I had to cut the taillights down.
Self satisfaction pic.
Still need some more adjustments on the quarters before the final welding. I am probably going to do the air intakes next and then get the rears on.
Getting closer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Audi Coupe with Porsche 944 Box Flairs
Since Rad. inlet is now on rev.B I needed some more metal, and cutting the roof of the Porsche for the metal was going to leave me
still needing rocker panels. I had some metal cut and bent along with some other stuff. For the revision of the Rad. intake I had to put the rockers on first to get some hard targets for more sheet metal work. Also managed to add some more panels to the Rad. air intake to make some headway there, but I don't have any pictures of that. These intake panels are welded in a boxlike structure that is removable so I can paint the whole thing before it gets welded in.
Prepping for rocker install
Bottom of door extended and rocker on
Front: Not sure what to do there yet
Hope to have time and partake in the forum more soon.

Update:
Other rocker is on to
To bad there is a slope in those, if they where straight they would make a pretty good workbench. Also made some more progress on the Rad intake.
Rough mockup
Not much going on this weekend as I have a wedding to attend to.

Re: Audi Coupe with Porsche 944 Box Flairs
Both Rad.air intakes stitched and one piece now
They still need some love and are about 80% complete. I slid the driver side back in the car and it fit up nicely without any major warpage.

Re: Audi Coupe with Porsche 944 Box Flairs
Thanks: PRY4SNO
Rad intakes are done minus sealer and paint. After paint they will be ready for install and once installed I can finally finish the rear quarters. For that to happen there has to be some painting done on the inside of the car as the rad intake protrudes and covers some real estate that would be impossible to paint and seal after intake install. So I started prepping for that and eliminated the seatback
pivot mount and a helper tag on the inside of the rear wheel tubs. That mount was quite heavy for its size.

Thanks scubagli.
Managed to remove more metal in backseat area and add some support for the Rad intake. Also got 2 coats of primmer and paint on the whole thing, after seam seal.
Rad intakes need one more coat of paint.
After the last coat of paint on the Rad intakes dries they are going to go back in the car for welding and this time they are not having to come back out.
You think watching water boil is torture, try watching paint dry.

Re: Audi Coupe with Porsche 944 Box Flairs
So Rad intakes are back in the car.
Fit is nice.
Shot through rear hatch.
Next time I am stepping into the garage my welder will get a workout and the Rad intakes will be part of the car.

Thanks ,and yeah it is kinda bonkers. Things just get outa hand sometimes(most of you know what I mean, if you don't just give it some time and you will get there too).
I see your car is sporting some new cheeks, looks nice and paint is going to be awesome.
Rad intakes are welded in the car
Rear fenders/quarters are re trimmed to fit new Rad intake profile
Been working on the Rad outlets on the side of the car so " alxdgr8" can have the slots in the rear as per his suggestion.
They are shaped and the fit is good so next step is to get some paint on them and then install them in the car. After much thought
and varies ways to attach them to the car I decided to glue them in a few spots to keep them in place and then fiberglass the outside to the cars body, with some strips of glass on the inside if possible just for good measure. Before that happens I need to fix the heater in my laboratory as outside temps are not paint or fiberglass friendly right now.

Re: Audi Coupe with Porsche 944 Box Flairs
Working on the side Rad outlets ,so I can get the rear fenders on. I know that I told you guys that the rear fenders are going on after the Rad intakes where done ,but i forgot the side outlets needed attention as well.
So the taillights I had cut down sometime ago went back in the car for some sheet metal work.
Added a barrier behind tai light to close things up.
This is how much the tail light gave up to make this all fit
A few more pieces of metal to add in the rear to keep water out ,seam seal ,paint ,fiberglass work. And the rear fenders are going on for realzzzzzz!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also there are no more slots in the car that I had to cut to pull the sheet metal where it had to go ,they are all welded.
I am going to eat dinner and of to the garage . I did get my heater in the garage fixed so paint and glasswork is going to commence.

Oh no, please do comment and clutter. Ideas, critique, suggestions, clutter and comments are much appreciated.
I thought that is what its all about. Make post on page with Good audi community and enjoy peoples input and comments, all the while realizing that what I am doing is not everybody's cup of tea.
If your avatar is your engine compartment, looks like you have the same cursed dreams/visions than the rest of us. Looks nice, wish my project was this far along.

Oh thanks! I'm actually living vicariously through your project and others. I have since sold that engine bay and the car with it. It was purchased by a member here though, so I get to see it live on.
I'm hoping I can get into another project someday but it's not in the cards right now.

Re: Audi Coupe with Porsche 944 Box Flairs
I was happily sanding and seam sealing in anticipation of installing the rear Rad outlets on the side of the car.
Slid the pass. side in for one final eyeball lineup and was reminded that the battery that has to go there as previously planed. Put the sandpaper away and grabbed the fabtools cut some metal on the car and made a battery mount.
Still needs a couple more supports, some tweaks welding and I can get the sandpaper back out to finish the side Rad outlets.
