Not being a T44 person my memory was foggy; you can convert to HP2 calipers from a later model Audi http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=49445 & http://www.theprojectpad.com/viewtopic.php?t=618
The TT option was for G60 cars.

Re: Cara's 20v Avant
Nursing school and work have been busy so there' hasn't been much progress at all. Minor hiccups here and there, clutch is starting to go (not so minor) but otherwise all has been decent. Replaced the rear tie rods which entirely got rid of all the squeaking that I had been attributing to bushings etc... replaced rear pads and rotors. I have a bit of a lifter tick so I was thinking of running ATF at my next oil change... does anyone here have experience with that method or know the ratio? Thanks!

Whhhhattttt?! I know 2 other 200 20v owners who had no problem with it. If I were you I would call again or do the live web chat thing and get some answers.

Cara, for adding ATF to the oil, just add a minor amount, maybe half a cup or so. A little goes a long way. It has a lot of detergent in it so its a good cleaner in that fashion, and I have used it for the same reason you are. Regarding lifter tick, stock lifters dont last forever, and the design wasn't the best. Ultimately you may have to just replace them in the end.
Re: Cara's 20v Avant
Hey everyone... it's been a while!
This morning on the way to work my battery light came on, my voltage went all the way down over the course of 5-10 minutes, then I almost completely lost power. Lights are still on but lost power steering etc and the car won't start at all or even turnover. I replaced my battery several months ago, granted it was used, but it was from a place a friend of mine with several old audis including a 200 goes a lot and seems to like. Think it's my alternator? If so, is that a difficult fix on my own? I only have done pretty minor fixes on my own thus far. Thanks !!!

Re: Cara's 20v Avant
The alternator isn't too bad since your car is V-belt you would just need to take the tension off. I have not done it in a stock 3B yet , maybe some of the radiator ducting would need to come out .
Sounds like your alternator is not charging , but if you get your battery charged again you can start the car and see what the voltage is while idling by using a multimeter to measure (either at the alternator, or across the battery terminals) .
With a healthy alternator when the car is running it should be in the ballpark of 13.8-14.3 volts . Not sure how much accessories affect this . But anyways if it's bad you'd probably see closer to 10.5-11 range

Re: Cara's 20v Avant
I don't recall in the 3B but some of the alternators have a removable brush called the voltage regulator that is much easier to replace . In my 4000's I have swapped here before and got the alternator function back .

3rd on the voltage regulator.
As I read your post that's the first thing that popped into my head, as that exact scenario happened to me once in my Cq.
It's two screws and done, and as Ed mentioned, can be done in car on the roadside.

100% the voltage regulator.. happened in my 200 not too long ago!
Make sure to have a stubby phillips and one of those angled phillips screwdrivers too

Re: Cara's 20v Avant
Hey! Thanks everyone!!! It was just the alternator belt. I was on the way to work when I broke down so I left it in a hurry without looking at anything really. When I went back to get it that night and took a look the belt had vanished. Limped it home with several jumps and installed the new belt. Test drive went well... retained all the usual quirks but battery is staying charged.

Glad to hear. Don’t risk it though now that it’s been brought up. Order a voltage regulator and stash it in the glove box
Re: Cara's 20v Avant
I got the VEMO ~14.7volt VR from Marc @ EFI Express the last I needed one...

Re: Cara's 20v Avant
Great news!
FYI, they're basically all plug'n'play. When mine went, a good buddy had a spare alternator in his scrap metal bin from an old 20v car and gave it to me. I swapped in the VR with no issues since.
