Type 44 big brake ideas? (Rear)
Re: Type 44 big brake ideas? (Rear)
Here is 17"s
you can probably do the 345mm with 18"'s with custom homemade adapters. 330 should be a HUGE improvement compared to what I had.

My adapters

Edit your post to say "2010-2011 Audi S4 330x22" ,, not 2001 which are 300mm
So what was the final consensus? To use UrS Pads one must shave 1mm per side off these discs... Or Use b5S4 pads and be good to go... no need to swap calipers with either pad?

Edited it. I don't know why I had the wrong year posted in there. Dumb mistake. I can go back and check my receipt to double check. I wound up using the thicker pads from the V8/200/C4S4. Then I turned the rotors down enough to where they would slide in the throat of the caliper without rubbing which wound up being resulting in turning the rotor 1mm off of each side. And to get into more detail, there are some metal tabs on the subframe that support the e-brake cables for each side... I removed those to give my cables more room to move so they aren't pulling at the calipers at an awkward angle. It might not be necessary for a stock height car but since mine is slammed, I made sure the cables could travel with the movement.

I guess my question is, why go through all that as opposed to just using the B5S4 pads? Maybe I lost track of the reason why somewhere along the lines... sorry

Re: Type 44 big brake ideas? (Rear)
I used the thicker pads for longer wear life and also it keeps the piston closer inside the caliper bore which I believe is easier on the seals and wears less on the piston and bore and may even take less fluid to get the caliper to apply force and maybe affect stopping distance/power/reaction time. Just my opinion.
Re: Type 44 big brake ideas? (Rear)
Interested in a couple sets of the brackets if you have any available.
Thx ....

Re: Type 44 big brake ideas? (Rear)
Hey Fam,
Long time no forum. I would def like to try this mod out and I have the rotors and calipers to do this on a type 44 20vt wagon. My Q is has anyone had problems with rear bias issues with this mod? The rotors are for sure bigger than the fronts. Is the proportioning valve able to compensate for the load under heavy braking? In my mind it works but I am uncomfortable with the fact that the rotors on the rear are disproportionately bigger than the fronts. Is this mod assuming I have 4 pot brembos on the front or is this an assumed stock mod? If thats the case Ill water jet the bracket and mash my brakes to my hearts content. Otherwise I would appreciate clarification.

Re: Type 44 big brake ideas? (Rear)
The stock bias seems to work well with 4 pot Brembo + and stock rear brakes.
If you were to upgrade the rears without at least going HP2 it wouldn’t be a huge upgrade and to your point - locking up a rear brake in a corner isn’t too much fun.
There is also a more simple rear rotor upgrade that seems to be a good option as well, though I can’t recall the thread.
To answer your question though - I would assume this is with a 17z setup or a 4pot being the minimum. I think the brake bias would be just fine if paired that way.

Re: Type 44 big brake ideas? (Rear)
Thanks for response. I ended up purchasing some s4 vented rotors. The fit made a lot more sense for what I was trying to achieve. Rebuilt some s4 calipers and it was a bolt on and go mod for my 5000.

awesome - I think that is the ideal setup
