Come to think of it.....I now remember that I had run pure race fuel (110 octane) for a couple days and STILL got the knock sensor going off. Theres no way that thing will knock with 110 and less than 15psi

I'm assuming you've done the usual tune up stuff.... plugs, wires, distributor rotor and cap?

I apologize for not reading the 40 some preceding pages possibly causing me to miss the answers but what octane do you normally use? I always run 93 and I haven't had a single hiccup even at 18 PSI. I would suspect the torque on the knock sensor may be too much possibly or you have a loose something of other smacking into the sensor or nearby where it mounts that is causing the code. I hard knock codes right around absolute when I had a disconnected wire connector dangling down and hitting against the knock sensor. Imagine my relief when I found the solution!

Mainly 92, 93 if I find a station. I'm gonna retighten it and try a spacer in a few to see what happens

I'm gonna grab the bolt through ones off the A6 there next time I'm in and if they still have it. I went and spaced out the sensor on lunch. It was WAY too tight. I dont remember making it that tight but I made sure to be very gentle this time around. We shall see how it acts on the way home tonight

No the A6 v6 uses the bolt-through sensors. Theyre supposed to be better

Not sure which sensors are compatible, but the one fo the NG is 45 bucks. Id highly recommend a new knock sensor though. *beatsdeadhorse*

I agree with Mike, get a new sensor. You can keep trying used sensors, but you will never know it they are good or not. The bolt threw sentors are much better, and much cheaper than the OEM stick sensor.

Alright update on the sensor. Turns out I was about a liter low on oil (damn valve cover). Knock sensor was most likely hearing lifter chatter. Added a liter, problem has so far gone away

Um... time to find another VC to steel the bracket off of.

nevermind. Low oil wasnt the problem and still throws the #$@$ing code. I'm gonna order a new sensor when I can. I'll try the bolt through sensor from the A6 tomorrow.

Flow matching the injectors and welding up the stupid ebrake chassis mount tomorrow. Finally get to use my ebrake again.

The making of the rally basket!!! The basket is made out of 1/2 steel square tubing (.065" thick). The dimensions are as follows:

51" x 51" x 5.5" deep
Weighs about 20 lbs without lights.

After 4 hours of work

After 8 hours of welding and fabbing

After about 11 hours of welding, fabbing, and cutting

All that is left is the mounting brackets for the lights, the roof bar mounting provisions, and powdercoating!!! Oh and I'm gonna make the floor out of expanded metal (gutter guard or something). I was considering having the light relays up in the basket too but wondering if they would be better located in the trunk.

Looks good! Should look pretty sick sitting up there. How many lights are you planning on mounting?

As for the relays, it you spend the extra coin for the weather proof ones, and te harness to go with it, then yes, mount on the basket, but if using the standard relays, mount in the trun.

I'll be running 4 lights in the front, 2 in the rear, and probably 2 on the bumper for a total of 8 total lights!!!! The 2 up-top center lights are aircraft landing lights off of a Boeing 737 mwahahahah
