its the fan housing for heat and ac.... also directs the air to defrost, vents, floor, etc. if you want anything for a street driven car, you gotta take it out nice, which i do not know how to do..... me, break things. i dont need them....

Looks like fun

with the climate box, did you take off the two nuts under the heater hose lines? I didn't find those for a while on mine :bashtard:

you mean the two nuts that are in the engine bay? if so...ya i saw those and took them off. i didnt even really get a good look under the pollen filter area, maybe ill check there tomorrow. i hope thats it cause the thing wiggles a bit, but will not just come off as of yet. other then that theres no hidden bolts IN the car....i have the entire dash out and such already and i just cant see anything thats still holding it in place.

that is prob. the best way. it wont warp too badly and it'll ust be 2 nice seams to weld, make sure tey come out nice and you can just leave em.
looking good!
you gonna have an elbow between the plenum and the TB flange??
Posted: Sun Oct 26, 2008 6:20 pm
by Zerb
im actually going to be cutting the middle of the plenum i think. something like this.

....i think. lol

It looks nice man. I would just use the base of the stock manifold, and then cut your d-tube on the flat... Or you can ditch the d-tube and get ahold of some 4 inch 1/8" wall tube and just cut it to match the base of the plenum. That D-shape has 1/4" thick wall and that is overkill if you ask me. It looks like you have a lot of volume by the look of it, but actually the ID is only 3".
Either way, it looks like it will flow nicely!!!

by vagrant_mugen
your not too far from the CT border. we should get up sometime, me you, RJ(silverCQ) and Ashesh. im not sure who else lives in between, maybe charlie(Chabaso)
whats your estimated date of completion? you alrady have a built motor, right?
Posted: Mon Oct 27, 2008 8:03 am
by Zerb
well, the motor was built. but i had a mishap, and the heads going to need some new valve again i believe. i want to get the motor in the car, ic pipes made, exhaust all done, radiator and coolant hoses all made, intake mani made, all that. then once its done, or near done, itll get pulled out and put on a stand and the blocks going to get punchedout to 2.0l and the head will go out to BobQ to get redone, again. while the motors out, depending on how patient i am, the bay will be getting smoothed/shaved a bit, cause i want to get the car resprayed once im done. im also putting a cage in the car, my friend made one for his mk2 and it came out very nicely....so we're going to take a stab at putting one in the audi.
and highland ny is about 80 miles north of nyc, right around the kingston/poughkeepsie/new paltz area.

so your looking at springtime for ETA.
Why dont you just run a taller block w/ 159 rods? one thats already a 2L? or are there complications witht he newer style oil pump crap???

zerb could run the AEG 2.0L bottom end bolt up, no change to mounts. just drill the block for the colant feed to turbo line....
thats what i am gonna do, run the 2.0L bottom end.... Issams' got me going with the custom rods and pistons for it.

This will be a fun car. I did an AEB swap in my brother's b4 90 an couple of years ago. I've been driving it for the last couple of weeks, and it is really a nice setup for this chassis. All it has is a k04 upgrade, but still fun!
