034 actually offers a flywheel to interface with it (though I hear it might need a little work to be perfect, but what else is new), then you just change out the spline things which is easy enough and you're done.

thanks for the info, def something i may look into. especially since i needed to get a new clutch for this upcoming season regardless, and the clutchamsters fx850 was the only thing i was looking at.

They also have a steel one.

Ahkay! Thanks. I didn't realize the NASCAR clutches you have been talking about work with that flywheel. "That's super cuuwl!!!" *said in best attempt at Miley Cyrus impersonation*

yeah but that is 5cyl stuff. we use 4cyl stuff.

Jon, here is the quartermaster floater plates. they look identical. i am going to bite the bullet and order one to see if it is indeed the same, but i am pretty certain it is. then just getting them to make discs :)

but my buddy said they will do that too, and he did an 850 twin for like $600 for new parts, i think it was.

he still hasnt given me the infos on the exact parts he used, but we know you cant upgrade your FW to 850 specs but i can mine.

Oh, I guess I forgot about the whole 4-cyl thing. Sorry :/ Still, all you need is a custom flywheel and that isn't too hard.

and i just wrote to them, will see what they say. but when i got my two new discs they were $450 or so? the CM sintered iron ones. my other ceramic bronze or whatever are still OK, as you saw they were slipping on >800 though....
and if i could afford it, i would switch out to a big badass triple disc setup now and be done.

Derek also got a triple setup from Ebay, an Ex-Nastard one in 5.5" size, its pretty freakin cool. he will some day make it happen with putting it into something of his.

and yeah, our FW's, mine has the multiple bolt pattern for 725-850 use, but Jons doesnt.

and dont worry about us measly 4 bangers :) we know we are odd men out. but its fine

I wish we o the 5cyl had half of the options you'uns with 4cyl for engine parts! 8-)

well, shit here. now ive got two great options to pursue.

clutchmasters is good stuff, but id need to see if i can purchase just a flywheel from them for an 8.5" disc setup aaron, cause like you said you've got one of the newer style flywheels from the fx725/850 setups. i have the one from when they were only fx700's.

in which case if i have to buy a flywheel, i might just look into this tilton setup and the 034 flywheel linked above for our motors.

a tilton triple sure would be cool, but then again the TOB setup would be something else that may need to be addressed if i were to go the tilton route.

034 already has that worked out. but the thing is you will be starting from scratch.

you would need three parts.

triple disc clutches and floaters and cover plate

to be used with

flywheel

and you might need this TOB if not the optioned one on the clutch kit listed above. i think they are the same though and you can get it on the first link as the option.

throwout bearing

Aaron, the e-bay ones come with clutch disks, floaters, pressure plate, and cover thing. All you need is fw and to bearing if I am not mistaken.

exactly what chris just said above. you could feasibly be all in for a little over a grand. triple disc, tilton.

yup. it could save him a few hundo that route, but then he still has to purchase new discs anyhow to match the Audi splines as well as the FW and TOB. whereas he would be right where he is with a brand new complete FX725 like he has now, complete with FW and TOB.

say the Fleabay Tilton route is $300 for the setup, $650 for the FW and $175 for the TOB. $1125 plus then he needs 3 new discs from Tilton for the input shaft splines are different on all of those Fleabay setups compared to what we need.

or a brand new Clutchmasters full twin disc setup is right around $12-1300 or so. but that is the 725.

its a wash at this point for him, he is trying to get new discs or upgrade his existing.

you guys are missing the new discs you need to buy also to match the input shaft of the trans we use. figure around $100/disc new.

you are now at around $1400 or more.

Chris stated before that you can just have the existing discs from tilton resplined apparently.

Marc and I just talked about this. He's going to talk to Tilton to see if they will just let us have some hubs. You can definitely put new hubs on the disks, the question is at this point is where to get the hubs. *fingers crossed that Tilton will be cool :) *

On a side note here. I swapped a CQ hub onto my car to see if the different offset versus my stock 90q20v hub would allow these 275s to clear in the front. And they did just that. Not by much, but the tires do not hit the steering arm now. I think I may take the grinder to that arm though and just get a tad bit more clearance, because as it is you can fit a few pieces of paper in there, and that's not enough.

This is pretty much how much offset was gained from going to a CQ front hub and rotor versus my stock 90q20v hub and rotor.

So. Got some wheel color ideas in my head here. What's the general consensus of the MG population?

i like white first, then the gunmetal. i dislike pink i apologize. you are not a 12-teen girly driving her first car. the motor? yeah its grown on me. the wheels? not in my eyes.

Personally. I wouldn't do the pink. Just through it in there to see if it would grow on me. Needless to say, it hasn't.

I too like the white. Just may be a bitch to keep clean.

White! It isn't too hard to keep clean if you keep up on it.
