3b question for derek
hey derek so i have been following your project an it looks awsome. i am currently in the process of doing a 3b conversion myself. i got motor all in an went to start and nothing. so i figured out that i didn't wire the two blue/red wire that power fuse 28 and 29 to 12v key on. so my question to you is what did you wire thoughs into that was key on 12v?

4kq's rock
engine build numero two-oh. i got an absolutely minty mint, mint mint mint 3B block. the bores are absolutely perfect, line bore is perfect, no corrosion inside the block, all surfaces perfect. harvested from a 130k mile 200 20v that had been hit in the front.

i am still in awe that the cylinder liners look like this... i've never seen clean ones before.

i'll be transferring the rotating assembly minus pistons (i have the ones from this block), new rings (finally), a windage tray, possibly a crank scraper, possibly a custom oil control grid in the pan, all the ARP hardware, etc into this block, fix the bent valves in the head, install the HD valve springs, finish port matching (which i somehow forgot the first time around), and then the engine work should be done...
i ripped the 3B harness and ecu out, and got the AAN harness started..
still on the list to finish aside from the engine...
AAN wiring
Intake manifold
intake plumbing/BOV
downpipe
wideband zietronix to wire up
turbo lines for coolant and oil
crank case breather setup
oil cooler
i know there's more, but i'm in denial and just trying to get one thing at a time done.
my hats off to Aaron for beating me to being ready for Waterland. i might just have to go out and watch and root him on

Awesome car!
I´d like to know some things for my zermatt-4kq, though:
Are the small wheels on some of your pics 8x16s from the V8? Is there any rubbing with those?
How did you convert the rear to 5x112? Did you just press 5k front hubs into the carrier? I have an urq-suspension with the wide rear hubs and fully loaded (the car is my DD) it rubbed with 185/55 R15 ET47(!!!), so i´d like to put in 5k-hubs instead (so they fit, of course). Any brake disc suggestions?
Thanks, and go on promoting 4kq-ownership like you do.

Magically nothing oxidizes in Derekland. I'm sure it will look just as nice in another 10 years.
:slap: in Derekland, the rust goes away with time, not accumulates
itll only get better
fwiw i will lose my mind and go crazy if derek finds a 5 cylinder 5v per, cylinder head, mmmm tasty
