haha I know man...its perfect. The front is almost perfect. Camber will help. First shot is the one it looks worst in. The rest it looks pretty nice. The car needs to go so much lower in the front it sucks. Going lower in the front will make it suck in more which will also make it perfection. I just really need to get going on the spacer things for the strut towers. Maybe wherever I get an internship will be able to help me with that.
So check it out...
looks much better here
and another side shot...if you dont like them keep your mouth shut lol I needed to spice up my life a little. Black is SO boring and sucks in pictures. Will get more as soon as the other wheel dries.
oh and the adapter and bolts do not like eachother. I'm going to have to pocket the back of these wheels a little I think unless anyone has other suggestions. They are already ground down a lot (too much).

205's are just too much stretch. Here is the difference on these wheels
205/40 (falken 512)
215/40 (unsure on brand)
thanks a-talk...I think you really cant go wrong with mesh bbs's on a car of this vintage.
I've attempted my polishing for the day...it came out alright, but its going to require me to go back and sand certain steps again :( I tried to do it very thoroughly, but somewhere something got messed up. Its not a mirror finish yet. Too many little scratches still left way back in the 600 or 400 or so phase.
This is all I've got in me...until tomorrow
or later tonight

Man, I am soooo jealous of all your progress!! This is going to look soo sick! I can't wait to get the ball rolling on mine, but that will happen in December!
Oh by the way, I like the green wheels. A tad JDM styling, but black definitely does get boring! I've been considering painting mine as well, ha
Me too, ha. I'm in school 14 hours a day right now and don't have time to work, but I'll be done in December. First thing I'm doing is your coilover DIY then enkei rpf1's! So stoked
Yeah, I can deal with a little bit of "poke." My last wheel setup had a slight bit of poke in the back but when I really dumped the rear down low the wheels would actually go right up into the fender. These look to be about perfectly flush with the fender when all is said and done. Thats the look I love. I'm all about a car with good stance.
Thanks for the kind words everyone!!!! Its much appreciated.

Dont do a 205/40, its wwaaayyyy small. I have a 205/45 on my 17x8 and i like the look of it. 20vs have big fenders too so i think the 45 will fill it up more.
I'm definitely going 215. I'm pretty sure 40 too because thats what all the E36 guys have to run for clearance and I intend to run these on the E36 too. I hope they still fill the fenders alright on this car. If not, then it just needs to go lower lol. Don't you think 215 45 would be a little too much tire?

jcarrick wrote:I used NGK iridium's in my 1993 S4 running around 20 PSI and they started to misfire after about three months. They would boost up to about 15-16 and then it would just start falling on its face. So i put the F5PDOR's back in and it totally fixed the problem. From what i am learning in school with German cars bosch plugs are the only way to go. NGK's are great on Japanese stuff, but for german cars they dont work so great... dont ask me why :?
Well NGK's are fine, just not the Iridium...I tried the Iridium's too and they are fine for N/A, but not boosted..Same thing with the Platinum+4 Bosch, we found out pretty quickly not to use those in a forced induction engine when they first hit the market a few years ago! Most sites now have a disclaimer not to use them on boosted apps..
Iridium plugs are fine to use in a boosted car. NGK,Denso are two of the best ones. Iridium's come stock in a evo from the factory so they are not for N/A cars. Iridium's are what all the high hp dsm and evo guys run. Thats 900+whp cars.
My I ask what you are all gapping your plugs at. You may just need to knock the gap down to help with a misfire under boost. You could just be blowing the flame out.
Factory gap on my plugs are between 27-32. That works good up to around 20psi. After that I end up having to knock them down to around 18-22 for 30+psi.
Yes that's the problem Iexperienced with the iridiums at above 22psi.. My buddy also tried them in his Mk3 jetta, with a hybrid ABA 2.0 bottom/16v head and running 25psi, and he ran into the same issues..Popped in a set of NGK coppers and misfires disappeared, but they don't last long.I didn't try adjusting the gaps though, maybe I will try that next..I never knew the DSM guys were using the Iridiums, that makes sense that they will work fine in boost, just haven't had luck with them in VAG products yet..
Chris, regarding your bolt-adapter problem, there are lug bolts with tall heads and ones with short heads. If your car has the tall headed bolts, the short headed ones may make the difference for you.
There is a pretty substantial difference in height between the short and tall. I don't know how much you have shaved the bolts, or what the difference is between the two, but it is worth considering before doing anything to the wheels.
Chris adaptec usa on vortex sells the shorter lug bolts you need that are the same height as the adaptors. They came with my adaptors i got for my GTI. If i was you i would run a 205/45 i think itd look the best.
Hmm you might be right about the 205 45. You've never failed me thus far when it comes to this stuff so your opinion holds a lot of weight in my decision. I wish I could see them both on the car, but oh well. I certainly agree that the taller sidewall is needed for this big car.
Thanks for the adapter bolt source! I'll be using those for sure.
