So, what made it $1500? Owner's total lack of knowledge of what the car is? Even with all those miles, it's still worth well more than twice that.

US numbers are about 600, and Canada is 99.
There is a website with numbers but I can't access it right now.

Anyone know if the site is still up??

Totally believeable numbers, but you know what's weird? The only two I have ever seen in person have been during trips to Canada. Guess that goes to show that personal experience is not necessarily representative of the greater reality.

I'm not so sure about that. The way I have it figured is the car is 23 years old and sold new for about $38k. Off the top of my head that means the car has depreciated a bit over $1600 a year. If Derek wasn't so quick to jump, he could have waited a year and the guy would have probably gave it to him. Oh wait (doing more off the top calcs) he did. :woowoo:

I'll say. This is part of why I miss the West coast. Javad, need another employee? I'll move back tomorrow.

Where have you seen them?
Maybe it's someone I don't know of yet and could persuade to join our Canadian Ur-quattro Owners Club.

THanks!

I had an interesting dinner with with four other Urq owners about a year ago. We had 5 people at our table (all urq owners), one owns an '82 urq, one owns an '83 urq, I own an '84, another owns an '85 and the last guy was passing through Denver coming from Vancouver and going home to Chattanooga in his newly acquired '86 urq (one of only 2 or three imported to NA in '86). So we had 82,83,84,85,86 represented - Pretty wild (in an urq-geek sorta way) for a car that most consider to have only been imported in '83 - '85.

Brandon, How come Hank or I wasn't called to dinner? We could have run up in Hank's 81Urq. 8) We would have felt a bit out of place if the rest of the Urqs were as nicely sorted as yours, but it sure would have been cool having 81-86 in the parking lot. :-D

well, time for a small update. teh car is overheating like there's no tomorrow. i'm heavily leaning toward needs a new radiator or having this one rodded out. when i replaced the thermostat, there was this white crystalized stuff in chunks and i flushed as much as i could out, but i spect the radiator is pretty clogged up. so that'll be needing to be tended to soon.

the first mod i've done to the car is shorted the el' Gonzo style bumpers. i took the shocks out undid the locknut, drilled the threads out and then made a sleeve to put in place to hold the shock portion into the housing still.

Might someone have used some stop-leak in the system that is gumming everything up?

anyhow, i don't think it's stop leak, but i could be wrong. the water in it was all rusty brown and nasty, so that's not a good sign. i'll have to be getting it straightened out soon as i'll be driving this thing while i work on my v8 project! :D
