Ya, i know what you mean. I personally like them with the gold centers. I think it looks clean and classic

Yep, exactly my thoughts.

If I do gold centers, I'm going to get some of those BBS stickers (in red) that go on the lips of the wheels and I think Gold and black BBS center caps for them IF I run the center caps.

NO MORE MISFIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*knocks on wood

still have lots of bugs to work out but they are only tune related.

I reved to almost 7900 RPMS tonight LOL! Total accident. My tach apparently likes to lie to me because I could only see 7000 on it then it started fluctuating. Log tells another story :D

I think I might have to invest in that sweet VDO gauge like the one in that SQ project here on MG.

OK so I kinda felt like the car was losing crank position signal when I was doing pulls and sure enough, thats what VEMStune is saying too. Car just kinda stopped making good power and just felt sloppy. No misfire though. That made me happy. No misfire for every pull I did (3 or 4).

I commented to Marc earlier today that the car sounded much more aggressive. Guess I know why now (almost 8k RPM lol).

So the solution to this is to oval the hole for the VR sensor housing and get it closer to the ref. pin on the flywheel. Will do that this week hopefully.

Awesome thanks :) I like hearing feedback. I also like having a nice, smooth reving engine even if its only at 10psi right now.

Been having thoughts of trying to get that VDO extreme tach to work like in that one sport quattro thread on here. It totally sucks not being able to see how high you are reving! If I do it, I'll post details, but that might not be for a while since its like $300 :(

Yeah it sure does. Then again, some people are just as broke and not in college, so I can't feel too bad. I'm just glad I don't have serious bills to pay yet. Hopefully all of this work for an engineering degree results in a rewarding career that is also financially conducive to car modification :D

I'm also hoping that this summer will lead to some potential car mod money. Most will have to go towards money for next school year, but I think a certain percentage can be allocated to car stuff! A good internship should make that possible.

I'm just super happy that the car isn't misfiring right now. Now the only issue is some trigger errors that are happening up top. Car pulls so hard right now for only 10psi though, its pretty awesome...especially since I had a huge hand in the fueling tune with some help from Marc. Now that I can't see the tach, I'm not rev shy at all lol. 7700 rpm is pretty normal in all of the latest logs. I like :)

The way we are trying to deal with the trigger issues is by moving the vr sensor closer to the flywheel basically. Its pretty easy to do once you figure out how to finagle your hand in there to get to the bolts. First time I did it, it seemed to clear up most of the trigger errors, but there was still one in the log of about 5 or 6 pulls that I did. I moved it closer but haven't had a chance to log it yet. I dont think its much closer than it was before, but its practically touching the damn thing so I don't know what else to do. I guess we will see in the coming week!

Sounds awesome man!!! True story about being broke out of college too hahaha. I just bought my AAN for the 4kq so I am pretty excited about that. (I am offically broke for awile) I am hoping this summer I can dump 5 to 6k in the 4kq. I think that should get me at least on the road before next school year. I do have some parts up my sleave to give me more powa too. :-D Most of all I am just really sick of driving my pathfinder all the time too haha... :bashtard:

Nice, I want to see some progress in your build thread soon. AAN in the 4k must be awesome. I can only imagine my car but at least 800-1000 lbs lighter! (my trunk is full of shit)

I think I want to do a V8 4k someday btw...

Sexy Wheels!!!

I think I want to do a V8 4k someday btw...

MEEE TOOO but the major deciding factor in this was that the v8 was going to be WAY to much monies to get the power I want and I think an AAN with a Precision 5857E-B Turbo should be LOTS and LOTS of fun. I am hoping to see 400 at the wheels. When the engine shows up it's getting either the scat rods with JE pistons or I found a company the other night called Integrated Engineering that has a in house forged 4340 Chrome Moly Steel rods with Je pistons. They sell a complete rod/piston combo for 1200 bucks. I can't even get the JE pistons from 034 for 1000. SOOOO even though I want to support 034 I have to go with what I can afford.

Yes sir, IE is a nice way to go. I'd use them with stock pistons to tell you the truth. Stock ones will hold that power no problem at all. That turbo will get you there too easily.

I agree that that would look good, but I'm trying to get away from anything dark. I like colors that pop. Two black sets of wheels got to me I guess.

The reason I am also doing pistons is so that I can be totally rest assured that it's not going to be the engine that blows first. I want to build for 600 to 700 and run 400whp so that I know for sure the engine won't fail me. Now another factor too is knowing the way I am 400 won't be enough after a year or so. That way I can pretty much replace to 016 with an 01E, crank the boost and retune then say hello to 500+.

True story. I would do the same if the engine wasn't already out! hahaha. I can't wait to see what the 4k feels like with 400. I think it will be pretty nuts and if I go bigger... I will crap my pants. hahaha I have to say though I really really dig your 200. I am glad your keeping it rather than doing a swap like most others. Makes in unique that's for sure. I am following the same path most others do haha. Later down the road I will really focus on the stance and all that goodness like you, but for now it's engine time. :-D BTW: I still really really dig the rack look. I went and bought a rack like right after you did yours. Looks badass!

Thats so nice to hear Ben, thanks for the love :)

I don't blame you for going down the small chassis swap road. I actually bought the car with that intention to be honest... :hide: but then I just fell in love with the car. Its so nice having the big car luxury and I love the uniqueness of it. Its a great highway monster (with a big enough turbo) and I was pleasantly surprised with the handling after coils, so everything has been a huge pleasant surprise so far really. I love it. Even the looks of the car have grown on me and surprised me so much too. I thought it was ugly as sin at first. The tail lights, different wheels, drop, and rack (+ other little accessories) totally make these cars. Glad you like it!

Awesome news.

First of all, I finished making some coilover rings today for two fellow MG'ers.

Had to buy good American made hole saws instead of HF chinesium ones because they wouldn't make it thru more than two at a time lol. The American ones made it thru three today with no sign of fatigue. It was kinda cool cuz I learned that you actually have to break the hole saw in on the first hole.

The really good news is that I'll be making headway on my new strut mounts soon. I talked to the professor for the machine shop at school who has a PhD in machining and he said he'd make them for me and help me with the design too...I'm sooo happy about that because I know they are going to be effin sick now :D

Still waiting on the treadstone and the new 034 manifold to get here before I can make serious progress!

I assume you are talking about the rings. I'll make a thread about them over on QW, etc. if you want. I make them for cost plus whatever you want to donate to fund college and my car haha. They cost about $10 for the steel, $5 for shipping, and $5 for supplies. The new hole saws were not cheap so basically I would have lost money this time if it wasn't for some nice little donations :) It takes me about an hour in the shop to make a set.

The next sets I wont have to buy more hole saws...hopefully I can get a few more sets out with these same saws. Anyway, I will make the design for the strut mounts available when I'm done as well. I just want to see more old audis on coilovers! Its nice to give back to the community too.

Just realized that I hadn't read your build thread since page 8! Cool stuff dude, you've done a lot since the last time I was on MG. Love the ride height now!

However, I do have one suggestion.

Replace those ugly orange DOT side reflectors!! :-D
