Jeff contacted ARP with the main stud issue and came up with these guys. Kit was basically made from an existing 4 cylinder kit and added two extras. These are utilizing the new lower profile wide shoulder nuts. He mentioned that these will be going in the next Bonneville car too.

Hey Nick what are you drawing in? I have a few things I want to draw up but have no idea where to start. I know solidworks but that seems pretty intense. I just want to draw something for a 3d printer or China.

Check out Autodesk 360 or Inventor Fusion (if you're a Mac user). Very user friendly.

Oil thermostat.... Does that control oil flow to the cooler based on oil temp?

Can someone explain to me what the excessive side clearance on the rods is for? Is it to ease engine assembly in rotation at high rpm or something? Sorry if this is a dumb Question haha

Yeah, less power used/heat created by rod to crank friction. I'm not sure if there is another benefit.

Jeff is getting ready to install my cams and to his surprise, when he opened them up they were the billet steel version rather than the cast/reground version that these cams usually come in. It really makes no performance difference but he said they have a longer life and are slightly easier to degree...and they usually cost a ton more money.
Cam on the left is the cast variety, cam on the right is mine (both P/N 1002305):

My brother ordered exactly the same set from a different dealer and his are also billet. Maybe Cat is just selling this set at billet now, either way if Jeff is excited about them it must be a good sign

Almost a large setback today, luck was on my side.
So, Jeff called this morning with a dilemma...my CAT 1002305's didn't come with a distributor gear on the intake cam! Since these are going in a 3B, the disty gear is still necessary for the VEMS cam sync. SHIT! It take weeks to get another set of cams sent from the CAT in the UK.
LUCKILY, Matt (my brother) ordered the same exact set of cams but his had the gear (which his AAN doesn't need). No idea why one set has the gear and one set doesn't, but we're swapping intake cams...good to go! Back on track. Engine will most likely be shipped out this week!

That kind of luck just isn't healthy...you should pass some of that around!
Very excited to see the power you push and how much stuff you break
Also, go buy a lottery ticket.
