...I wonder if htat is the interference...

The shield definitely needs to be grounded somewhere. If its floating it can be acting like an antenna and be noisier than an unshielded bundle.

I get the same activity on my flywheel trigger, the common component is the old VR sensor. I should try the new one that came with the 6-speed. I didn't use it because I didn't have the female plug to match it.

Hank,

your car is amazing. I can't believe you got it back together in a week

Hats off to you on that one.

Tornado red rocks !!!!!!!!!!!

It seems like your really close to getting all the bugs worked out.

That car must be insane power wise......I can only imagine.

Us Canucks have got to meet up with you west coast boys some day........that would be fun.

It sounds like you are all a bunch of crazy, power hungry die hard guys out there......just the way I like it.

Congratulations.

Keep the updates coming.

Cheers,

Craig

What was the difference on the new VR sensor? Just the plug? I have looked at my VR sensor as being suspect as well. I'll throw a new one on, and ground the shield dto pin 8 on the ECU, and see if that helps at all.

Thanks Craig

Hank

How many CV's have you gone through? It seems like the axlesa re having a harder time staying together vs the CVs.

I may send you an experiment of mine and see if it holds up to the abuse better then those ones do.

:stupid: On the other hand if you are grounding the shield on both ends it isn't any better. In industrial controls, the practice more often than not is to float the device in the field and ground the shield at the controller. This is especially true if the controller has an isolated ground.

If you ground the shield to pin 8 on the ECU which I assume is ECU ground, be sure that the VR shield at the wheel is floating.

My car fires off within a second of cranking. Depending on how precise the tune is it may die or stumble after that, but it cracks off basically immediately.

It is physically different and fits in the factory location on the 6-speed, and the plug is different

It as quicker for me to make an adapter bracket than to fiddle with wiring at the time so that' where I left it

John's absolutely correct. It sounds like you may not have your shield done correctly. Sensors like this generally either work, or don't. We use optical, reed switch, inductive, etc sensors, shield wire only ever gets connected at the "controller" (usually a PLC or counter).

I know for a fact that hte shield is not connected at the ECU... I'll connect it and see if that helps..

Thanks guys!

It should make a difference, visible on an o-scope for sure.

I hookd up the shield at the ECU. I will know tomarrow if it counts 59 at startup!

Hey, enough of this boring technical crud.

Happy thoughts...

It wasn't quite put together enough to be driven from Salt Lake to Vegas, but had enough parts in service to make a light all 4 tires up entrance into Audi of Henderson!! It's no wonder he claims those 2800lb weights with him included. All this time I always figured it was him forgetting to eat that drove that weight, but maybe you're are on to something with the lightweight model.

Love it... the red/white combo is a classic. Sport, 959 they all looked great in red with white wheels.

Looks like my R8s are going out to be powdercoated white.. ;)

Cheers

I agree..

You know Craig, I was pretty embarrassed to show up to Vegas without trim/handles/wipers/exc... But in the end I think peopole appreciated seeing the car as you see it in those pictures vs not at all. We almost loaded the vr6 CQ into he trailer instead and headed to vegas, bt in the end, I think the UR was the rght choice.

I would say that was the lightweight addition, but all the missing parts were in the trunk :) I was doing assembly as we went !!!! I started the day without tail lights, seat belts and headlights hehe..

Just messing with you Hank,

No explanation required. Anyone in my books that did what you did in a couple of weeks,
01e swap, total car respray with glass out, is a damn dedicated and resourceful person in my books.

Not to mention bending a few drive-shafts along the way

Great job.

Cheers,

Craig

You folks probably saw over in the other thread that hte car is ripping at 30psi. Well I did some tuning to find I was a bit more rich on the top end.. So I took out some fuel up top which dropped my DC% to 83% at redline at 30psi. This is awesome because I could now turn it up a couple more psi and still be under 90% DC.

Lifted the head taking a buddy for a ride.

Cylinder 1 is filled with water.. I gotta go pull the head.

Well that's for passing out all those shit eating grins like candy. Maybe time for a more robust HG setup/stronger studs...or safer tunes?

Sorry dude...

Let me know if there are any parts I may have that you may need...
