So you got it running well again then???

Eh, it would need a retune on the bigger injectors to run well.

Its running better than it was yesterday though...UGHHHHH

Hopefully tomorrow when I swap the stock ones back in it should run decently again. I'm hoping it will run perfectly. If it does, then I can blame the firmware upgrade for my problems. I DO NOT want to stay on 1.1.27 though. Megatune is HORRID. lol

HAHA I have to admit. Even though I am spending like 5 times more on my standalone set up... avoiding these kinds of issues will make me a very happy guy. I am way to paranoid that I would lean out and blow chiz up. Plus not to mention I don't know of a single person running standalone on this side of the state hahaha which means I better get something reliable. Because I have no one to come over and help me out! :bashtard: motorgeek is pretty much my ONLY resource towards my Audi around here. Anyways...

I really hope that your firmware issues are solved and the injectors work out!!!

5 times more on a standalone? Vems isn't exactly "cheap"...you running motec or something? Even vipec and autronic are only around the $1500-2000 range.

Hey Matt, I wanna see some updates in your thread ;)

Maybe he thought I meant megasquirt when I said I was messing with megatune. Then maybe 5x more would be appropriate. VEMS as a plug and play is $1400 and then going to coils, adding a harness, and adding a WBO2 sensor brings it to about 2k total.

Ahhh I just want to go fast and enjoy my investment lol.

HAHA Ok that's my bad. I thought he was running megasquirt. I am going to run 034 IIc. Which is not cheap by any standard. :bashtard: Hope it's worth it.... I have to admit I am a little scared of not running somthing that comes with a good base tune. As this being my first experience.

update: up to 433whp on 18psi. Stock aan coils are not having any more. Last year the car made 360whp@25psi with meth injection, on a 30R...

haha :hide:

All I need is the damn manifold!!!! and for the car to run right on the VEMS :tard: Sorry if I post too much. I hope it doesn't bother anyone! :D This is the only place I get tech support from other than Marc (godsend) and my combined knowledge with my roommate.

It doesnt. I am just teasing. I skip over tons of threads that I know what they are going to say. If I didnt want to read it, I would just skip over it too. 8)

We did some kind of reflash thing today. Not firmware reflash but like an external reflash of the config. We did that and then burned my config again and the car isn't exhibiting the issues it was before anymore :wtf: super weird

I also threw in 440cc injectors just to make sure injectors weren't the problem. I did that before trying the trick above with no change. So its not the car's fault...yay!!

I'm not going to throw the original injectors back in until I can get new o-rings for them (borrowed the 440's from a friend). The orings on the originals weren't in the very best of shape. Should have that taken care of tomorrow.

Its pathetic how unstable megatune is on my computer.

sooo, it sounds like the stutter/stumble/misfire might be something funky in the VEMS box/firmware, do I understand that right?! I've been verifying TDC and trigger offset (you were right, 58deg!), but the car was still heavily shuddering. Didn't get to go back to 1.1.27, but w/ motronic back in place everything's smooth, no sign of hardware related missing at all. *scratch head*

**EDIT** see next page, car needs injectors I guess

Yeah, my car is smooth as butter with motronic. (I sold my ecu a few months back so I can't try it anymore lol) Like we discussed earlier, motronic may be able to mask some problems...but usually its the opposite case actually. Vac leaks, motronic goes nuts. Some timing issues, motoronic seems to take care of it without any indication to the user (backwards crank sensor for example).

Anyway, yeah...seems like that issue was the firmware's fault effectively. I dunno man, this thing is nuts lol. I get the same exact shudder you are talking about. Did you have that on 1.1.27? I never had any problems with my 1.1.27 tune at all aside from communication problems due to the serial adapter or megatune just being unstable. I really like VEMStune as a program over megatune, but I don't know if we are ready for 1.1.70 in terms of firmware yet. Maybe if I should use VEMStune on 1.1.27...

I'm so glad we are getting to discuss this because you are the only one with the same/similar setup. Our problems could be entirely different, or they might be the same thing. The shudder may be from too much fuel or something (accel enrichment) or could be firmware/timing related. Its so hard to say.

We'll see what happens when I get the stock injectors back in and try to go for a rip on 1.1.27.

well, in 1.1.27 I had a hard time getting it to start and idle right, and I would have to adjust my req_fuel overly low for my injector size to get the mixtures right. Now with 1.1.70 it started right up, but with time the low/medium load stutter appeared, this weekend (paired with some rain?!) it was pretty much undriveable bad. It definitely didn't run on all cylinders, #1+2 plugs looked way rich, I could not make out ignition issues, so I started to think there might be injector control issues. *shrugs* When I get the chance to I'll try to take those start-up values into 1.1.27 and see if it helps. I didn't have success with VEMStune and 1.1.27 connectivity wise...

Yeah, just use my whole map (minus ign. settings) for 1.1.27. You shouldn't have start issues at all.

Since you are running a dizzy and your issues possibly correspond to rain, I'd think your stuttering could be related to moisture in the cap. I've had that problem before.

I figured the rain just made everything worse yet. it's dry again now, so I'll continue. do you happen to have the PTC temp sensor values written down for firmware change?

Yes, I believe they are 425 and 260

OK uh, threw stock injectors back in and it ran like shit. AFR all over the place.

Put 440's back in and it idles great. Guess I need injectors, FML. ID1000's here I come. If anyone has some really cheap, good, stock injectors let me know.

your latest 1.1.27 did indeed rip! luckily no intake hoses ;) but I need new injectors too now, want the ones I just maxed out on your cfg?!?
