why dont you just get 42#ers for now? this place has them for $170 on overstock sale:

theyll get you to 400+ chp.

Well I had 42's before and I got rid of them because I knew I'd need to go bigger even in the short term. If I went with them I'd run out of fuel in a few months if I get to put rods in over the summer (which is pretty likely actually cuz I think I have the internship I want

)
If I can get stockers for cheap it makes more sense to get those and then save the money I would have spent on 42's to buy the 1000's.

#42s ordered (thanks for the link Justin), hope Lucas is a good choice, would have liked to get some of the famed #60 Siemens Dekas, but for the money I'm good with 400hp capability

Might be able to get the stockers out to you within a week, Chris. Now to order some Cherry Bombs

Nice...I'm going to see what I can do with the 1.1.27 tune on the 42 lb'ers that I have in there now. Maybe I can get one that rips like the one for stock injectors with a little more rec fuel tweaking.

Ermmm so I got to make a pull with good AFR (on the 440's) and the car still did the same shit. I'm going to reserve my judgment until I throw the stock ones in that pitten is providing. I really don't have any judgment right now because I have no idea what is going on still.

Thats my question too. So far it hasn't been the car's fault. Maybe this time it will be.

I went back and read last few pages of your thread. . seems we have kinda similar issues roughness/stumbling/richness. . I put my chipped motronic ECU back in and it seemed to idle a tad bit better,i was able to get out from behind the wheel and under the hood without it dying . . unplugging each injector 1 by 1 to see which cylinder was stumbling and it's my number 5 that had no change in idle characteristics , it just kept running rough , not a somewhat smooth idle with just 1 cylinder missing as i had recently with a bad plug wire.Yet when i removed the new plug i put in it was wet,and when i checked for spark i had spark. . Its like its a big block V8 with some wicked cams tryin to stay alive at 700 rpm . .maybe my timing is off all of a sudden..who knows . .

OK.
First of all there have been triggering errors. Car was running OK on low low boost even with some trigger errors up top at around 6k. Another user on here is getting the same issues with the trigger errors. I'm sure I would still be getting them up top but I haven't had the car above 4k in a long time due to this next issue.
It used to be that anything over 10psi and the car would start shuddering...like misfiring at very high frequencies. I could get it to stop by giving the car more timing. I was very hesitant to do it to the whole map because I'm a pussy and it didn't seem quite right to add that much timing to it (5 degrees in some places and still no improvement). Timing was definitely right at idle and 0 degrees advance.
So I decided to switch to 1.1.27 to see if that would help the issue. It didn't. Seemed like the injectors were the culprit since the idle was going nuts in terms of AFR and it wouldn't idle easily at all. Swapped 440's in and changed rec fuel. Idled fine. Turned rec fuel down and it had the same issues at the stock injectors were having at their normal rec fuel levels that I've used for months with no problems. Turned the rec fuel back up a bit on the 440's and it was fine again.
Went out to tune on the 440's and once I finally got it to where I wanted with lambda (.85) and it had the same issues as it was having before that seemed to be related to timing, but this config is the same one that I never had timing problems on ever before I switched to 1.1.70.

I was going to say, if my injectors are the culprit for messing up my low load sites as well it would be pretty pointless, to say the least, to sell them to you! Also then I really couldn't pussy out and switch back to Motronic anymore

car is doing better every day, although there's not much left of your VE table, taking a bunch of fuel out in the low load sites helped the "misfiring" a lot, even on a rainy day like today..only idling esp after start up (warm or cold) is still rough, with my custom kaput exhaust the misses are quite audible, let's see what the new injectors do for that, if anything. I'll try to "test" both sets when I swap them, I hope I'll see two old injectors leaking! If problems persist I'll start looking towards burned electronics in the box I think! I'm ignoring wiring issues for now since Motronic is butter smooth..oh, and I just replaced a funky IAT sensor this afternoon, just for the record

Hmmm OK. Well this is going to be interesting to see what all of our problems are.

Did you already check the timing to make sure it didnt jump a tooth?
Posted: Wed Apr 21, 2010 8:02 pm
by loxxrider
Yeah, thats something I may check into the first few weeks of May. I KNOW I lined everything up perfectly because I had 3 pairs of eyes looking at it making sure it was right. The only thing that may have happened was the dizzy gear might have gotten spun a little. We did have to turn the dizzy to get the car to start after we did the t-belt.
The thing is, the car ran fine after we did that. It wasn't till I swapped firmwares that I got these issues.

Hmmm, this is just weird... Especially since it ran fine you should have gotten everything back together correctly. The only other timing thing i could think of that could be the problem is if it jumped a tooth... But it seems like that should be more noticeable at idle...
Have you checked fuel pressure? May be a tired fuel pump... :?
Posted: Wed Apr 21, 2010 9:06 pm
by loxxrider
yeah, I thought I had a fuel pump before when I was having issues (probably a year ago) and put another fuel pump in it (turned out not to be the problem

) . It should be fine, but you never know. Injector pulse width is normal at idle and also in boost. I'm not ruling anything out though.
I may get that drop in adj. FPR this summer. That'd be sorta helpful.

With the injector PW normal at idle is it idling smooth?
Ya, ive considered getting that FPR as well. Ill probably do it when i do the 044 fuel pump

Also,
Have you done a pulse test or spray pattern test on the injectors?
Posted: Wed Apr 21, 2010 9:14 pm
by loxxrider
yeah, its plenty smooth at idle the way I have it now on the 440's.
