How can it be a 'club', if you are the only one that can join? (I think you out 'exclusified' yourself somehow?
ANyway, Will be nice to have another URQ out on the road, and nice to have a few Canadian ones at Carlisle too!

Now Frank there must be a couple of other '84 montego black ur-qs in Canada, out of the several
imported, and I am a people person, so if any of them have bad wheel bearings they can join too?
But that's it!
I had always wanted an '86 Canadian Zermat silver ur-q, with after-market sun roof club, ye know fer exclusivity
but thought I might not meet too many wimin if I joined that club.....

Obviously this will be a fairly quick car - have you considered wiper blades? This could be critical
at speed. I have heard good things about Motomaster keltic-tracs, they have rubber blades
every 2cms to reduce drag and more importantly cost. Excellent price to performance ratio.
I undrstand they are available for many applications including north american cars.

Craig mentioned I should ask if double bladed wipers are acceptable.. just to liven up the thread.

I'm impressed with the progress Martin!! I too am rather surprised to see the core support cut......thought I was on a different thread at first. I'm still holding out with my project, but I haven't progressed to the find room for an intercooler yet either. Done well with straight cuts, it really isn't bad at all, but the idea is still hard. Heck, I'm still having a hard time with the concept of kicking out the stock 20vt for a nice 20vt, but I don't like 160hp so something will have to be done eventually. Keep up the nice work.

Keeping a 20vt stock is a hard thing to do. On a very low mile perfect car I can see it. But on high mile cars with cracked dashes etc. etc.. it's a no brainer.. the 20vt is the motor for the Ur... even in stock form with a mild chip the car is a hoot to drive BTDT with my old Euro '85 which I miss dearly!

Sooo... How close to being completed?
Expecting to see it at Carlisle just a bit too optimistic, or not?
(Not like you don't have anything *else* interesting to bring..!)

It all depends...
The intercooler was dropped of today for welding, not sure when I'll get that back.
Plan for the weekend is to finish up cooling system complete with fan (200q) harness and resistor pack, tidy up the interior.
Next week I might have an upholsterer look at the driver seat and see if he can switch over the leather from a spare pass seatback I have complete with foam to make it look brand new. If not, a pass seatback will be used ona driver seat for now.
Then it's the front end, valance, bumper, lights. That should be couple of hours at most. Still need to install the '84 only rear valance spacer, template is in the Bentley.
Another major fab job is the power steering bracketry, going to try to copy Craigs setup so it can be down low and not bother the intercooler.
Once the intercooler is back then figure out the piping to and from.
Last, safety, alignment, appraisal, insurance, sticker and she's ready to go.
Quite a list, but doable in 4 weeks.
I know Hank did a hell of a lot more in couple of days.. so with a good slap over the head I should be able to manage :slap:

Nice car.
I too am completing my Ur-Quattro after 18 years. Hoping to have it done within the next few months.
It's a Canadian car. 84' with no sunroof so, you can add that to the Toronto non sunroofed UrQuattro group. Keeping it a 20v. Fully build motor running a T3/T4oE stage3, 034 header/downpipe, solid mounts, basically almost the entire catalog. Will most likely be going Haltech Pro 2000 for standalone.
pict of the car below. The "extra" set of boxter brakes could come in handy for me. Interested in selling?

I've got the info at home. Off the top of my head the last 3 digits are 768, but I'm guessing.
I'll post the vin later.

Wow, that is great, another one out of the woodworks...
Where are you located? You should come out to our monthly meeting, it was a good one last night.
Also, I would love to add your car to my registry, I have 54 out of the 99 cars registered so far.
You can send me your details to martin at quattro.ca
The Boxster calipers and carriers are long gone, but either the 034 or the OEM rs2 brackets work very well.
Boxster calipers can be had as cheap as $120 per side used, just call around some of the junkyards or go to
www.car-part.com.
Cheers and welcome to the club!

Small update, finished off dash wiring and sorted out dead licence plate light, apparantly the brand new RR dash harness had couple of pins installed incorrectly, Hans must have had a hangover or something.. all good now.
Also, got the downpipe finished and tacked, now off to get it welded properly
First got the bellow pointing in the right direction

Then got it finished in the car, what a pita it is to hold one small piece, while trying to get your welder in there, and pull the helmet down all at the same time.

But, finally got it out... that was a challange in itself.. had to take half the car apart... AGAIN.
And got the EGT and O2 bung holes drilled.

I also got the intercooler back from welding, it looks great, pics of that tomorrow.. I have to keep something back to keep this thread going
Good night

That car is going to be a hoot.
