What time do you think you're going to be up there at? I think I'm leaving around 10 to get there at noon.

Oh yeah I went to see blue man group for mother's day in orlando. It was awesome!

Good luck with the a/c. looks like you're going to beat me to being able to drive with the windows up. I have one last can of precious R12 to try, but I have to put the a/c belt back on. Well hopefully they tell you stuff is wrong before they actually fix it and charge you.

Yeah, I guess the guy who owns the shop is a friend of Jessica's mother so the price should be reasonable and they damn sure better tell me before they "fix" anything else! You really should just try that R12 out. Maybe replace all the seals first so you don't lose any of that precious stuff. Its worth a try. Cold air is worth many hundreds of dollars to me lol

I'll be leaving around 10 as well I think, so that puts me there by 2. I'll be staying the night so we can have some time to take a gander at the 90 and play some forza ;)

REALLY glad you got to see blue man. I told you its awesome! I advise anyone reading this to get out and go see them any chance you get. Its sooooooooooo worth it. Great life experience.

Oh and um...I think we might have to invest in a HF tow strap on the way and then you can be the first one to drive the 90 on the way back!!

Well I'm pretty happy. Got the AC working. All it needed was a new valve. Still cost a lot (but reasonable) for all of the r134 it took.

It blows COLD. The only problem is the blower is squeaking and the top vents sometimes cease to blow when not in vacuum. I would assume the only fix for the blower squeak is a new blower which is a pain in the ass...I will probably deal with the annoyance until it gives up the ghost. As for the vents however, I'd like to know why they do that and how to fix it. When they stop blowing, all I have to do is let off the gas so I can get into some heavier vac and it will blow thru the top vents again. All the while it will still be blowing in the footwell area...nice and cold. My feet are frozen. I have no idea how to tell it to just blow thru the top ones.

I assume this is all controlled by vacuum. Probably just a leaky vac line? Would love to know where to look.

Other than that the car is Carlisle ready. I'm going to look for a spare wheel and tire to bring with me just in case.

Awesome dude, so I am assuming it was just a blockage in of the charge ports? Or a defective charge port?

Pretty sure it was a defective charge port. Pretty nice that it wasn't anything else.

Oh, I also forgot to mention that I tuned the car for cruising and it was like 17:1 AFR or 1.18 lambda. Gas mileage was significantly better than ever before. Not sure what it is till I fill it up for Carlisle. Didn't need to advance timing or anything. No missing either. Should be pretty safe :)

I have pics a few pages back of the exterior...its literally from a week ago so it shouldn't be any different right now other than a quick detail. Engine bay is a mess to be honest. Now that the VEMS is finally sorted out I can start permanently attaching things instead of zip-tying them :D

If nothing else, you'll see plenty of pics after Carlisle...or better yet you can see it in person there ;)

Awesome, I'll look forward to meeting you there. I love those S6 avants anyways.

**edit** also would like to add that there is more good news for the 200 and the 90. I just accepted a good job for the summer. Pays double what my most recent job paid. Should help move things along ;)

Congrats on the job. Hope it work out for you and that you can put away enough to continue your car projects.

I would love to run VEMS in the S6, but I am a total noob with that and as far as I know nobody in Thailand knows or runs VEMS.

Would kick ass, though. The MAF just gave up the ghost on our S6. Lots of smoke out the back. So would have been a good excuse to get VEMS (well, not really)
Getting a replacement MAF from 034.

My wife says if I should get a second (or third depending how you look at it) S6 to "play" with. She want the current one to stay the way it is, with the exception that we get OZ Ultraleggeras and Bilsteins.

I love that woman...
But enough OT.

Rock on, Chris :-D

It really is a godsend. Almost brings tears to my eyes thinking about it :D

Chris, sounds like you have a keeper. I think I have a keeper too actually. I mean she actually WANTS to come to Carlisle with me and fully supports all of my car ventures as long as whatever needs to get paid first is taken care of. She also is genuinely interested in all of the modifications I do to the cars or at least does a great job of acting interested constantly asking questions and trying to understand what I'm doing. She's even kinda starting to learn a little bit of how to tune for AFR and timing and helps me a lot of the time. Like I said...keeper :D

If your wife agrees, I say definitely get something to play with! VEMS isn't all that complicated especially if its not on your DD. I for one would be happy to help out, and Marc is also always available for help, but thats an international call for you. Regardless, the forums are relatively quick too. Thats only if you want a serious project of course (something other than stock turbo). It'd definitely be cool to have another project to follow ;) BTW if you haven't already ordered that MAF I have a spare good one for sale...

Chris, thanks for the MAF offer, but Dan is getting me sorted out.
My wife is not quite as far regarding tuning, but she does really enjoy the S6. Especially now its got 60% mercury film on the windows. The AC sure needs to work hard in the Bangkok heat. It hit 40 Celsius the other day. She DDs the S6.

She goes to the shop with the car more often that I do. She has to. I am not home enough, but that is going to change soon. My CF venture in Thailand is staring already.

After some baht have been made, the next S6 is on the horizon. Converting to manual would really be a more worthwhile investment, not to mention required, before moving on to VEMS. I think VEMS with stock turbo should work heaps. Need to really learn how to tune before any serious turbo gets mounted.
300chp should be feasible. Shaving weight also would be in order. Its kind of silly to strip a luxury sports sedan, but that's all that available in the TQ department over there. The electric leather seats are 60lbs each I read and then there is CF. hehehe

Regarding support, Skype is a wonderful thing and keeps phone bills down.

Well there ya go, sounds like a great plan. It is indeed a good idea to learn on stock turbo. I've been really enjoying learning on mine. Its not all that hard once you have it. I have heard that about the seats too. Thats a great reason to switch to something lighter.

Car has made it nearly 800 miles so far on this trip with no problems! AC still doing funky things with the vents sporadically which is highly annoying, but I'm just glad it works at all :) The only problem is that one of my speakers just decided not to work today. No idea why. Probably a crappy connection. I'll have plenty of time to play with it this week.

So far so good. Will post lots of pics when I get back.

When you see me or The Stig at Carlisle "we" will take a look if you like and figure out the issue. I know the climate control system inside and out.

well I made it back from the 3700 mile trip in the 200 and it did very well the whole way. She is getting an oil change in a few minutes which is long overdue because of this trip. Also need a new blinker bulb because of a pothole in New Jersey lol. It stopped working as soon as I hit it.

The only problem was that the AC stopped working just before the last day of the trip (19 hours on the road). Marc and I noticed it at Carlisle. Sounded like a leak from the compressor or something. Does anyone have any idea where it could be coming from in the compressor area? I didn't get a chance to really pinpoint it until it was too late (no more 134 in the system).

On another note, I'm painting my wheels soon. I need to figure out what color to do them this time because after this one they are staying the same color forever. They are getting painted professionally and I can do whatever color or style of paint I want. We can do pearls, metal fleck, satin clears, suede-style finish, colors that change with the light, whatever...

I want something thats not black but also not silver...and it has to be classy. That means no lime green this time lol. I want something thats not too dark to show up well in pictures, but dark enough that it flows with the black and white theme of the rest of the car. (black Porsche calipers, black textured rub strips, etc.) I was thinking maybe some kind of color that changes from dark gray to silver depending on the light like my old wheels or maybe something dark but with a deep brownish maybe rootbeer pearl to it? I dunno. I just want it to be classy but have some flare to it at the same time and it also has to flow with the rest of the car. Any and all ideas are welcome ;)

I'm going to throw some spacers on them as soon as I can afford them (but after project Holset :D). I have been going thru the pre-employment process at the Palm Beach VA hospital and am on my way to be working there on the 14th so money should become a non-issue at that point. I can't wait to get some good progress going!

oh and I'd like to remind myself once again that I still need the oil filter housing fitting from 034, studs and nuts for the exhaust manifold from them as well, and some alum. bends!

Also need to get on replacing two light bulbs, fix the cruise control (maybe switch needs o-rings?), and also need to look at the vac lines that control the AC vents and such. While I'm in there I should probably look into replacing the squeaky blower motor :( :frustrated:
