carried over from the log manifold thread for anyone who's just following the project here:Well I drilled the bitch out. It now sits flat on the flange (except for some burring that occured while drilling the holes out :( )
Here's most of the material I took off. Had to do it to I think 8 of the holes. I don't think its an issue of shrinkage. Some of the holes were alright, others were way off. I had to move them over almost a stud radius in some cases.

Sooo I was all happy that I got it to sit flat on there. Still doesn't just slide on loosely or anything, but it goes on. I would have had to take out way more material than is worth doing with a regular drill. So anyway, I'm all happy and such so I decide to try and put some nuts on it. Bad decision. Some of them wont even thread on due to contact with the runners...let alone trying to get an actual socket or even open ended wrench around them. Looks like its going to take some grinding of the runners to get it on the car. I'll leave that for this coming Friday when we do the whole install. Should have some time to dick around with the grinder while Tom TIG welds the IC piping up.

and here are a few pics I didn't include in that thread because they were mostly irrelevant.
my awesome tubes in the background (I'll have to get a pic later of me bustin' some butt on one of them lol)

and the setup required to keep my happy doing automotive work in south Florida (on a budget)
-trusty fan
-trusty ipod radio
-drill and HF 115 pc drill bit selection
-and lots of light

Harbor Freight Drill bit set :woowoo: :woowoo: cant count how many times its saved me in the past.
maybe it wouldnt be a bad idea to mill the mainfold so that you can get a wrench or socket to fit over a nut.
The whole thing is just odd to me, it was engineered, manufactured, went through TOP levels of quality control and it doesn't fit on a stock head that Audi made thousands of back in the day.

I don't think taking that much material off of the runners would be a good idea and I don't have access to a mill around here. I think grinder should get the job done...quick and dirty like.

Id like to see a closer picture of the runners to get a better idea.

I already took it apart, so no can do...sorry. I know I should have done it, but oh well. Its a pain in the ass to get all of that stuff in one place. Maybe I'll get some when I install.
Just imagine a runner with a nut head thats touching it lol. Thats exactly what the picture would look like.

just posted over thurr
I have decided that I want some gallardo wheels really badly (ordering hardware for the BBSs soon btw so dont worry). It would be effin amazing to see if I could fit the 11's in the back (would all depend on offset).
**just researched and the rears are like +55 so that no work. Fronts would though. MMmmmmmm that'd be retarded awesome.

Speak to Derek, he's run them on the 4kq.
Didn't we speak about Lambo rims at Carlisle between the 20th and 50th beer somewhere around the "I cant remember jello shots"? (hope that makes sense)

aahahaha yeah I think we did. I'm pretty sure he used 4 fronts for the 4k. I just looked at pics of an A8 with the 11's in the rear though so maybe with my coils (skinnier spring in the back) I could do it. I dunno? Just need a set to try it out with lol. Tires would be insanely expensive.

Forget the tires. Arent the wheels unobtainium and at some higher order of insanely expensiveness. I cant imagine sourcing 4 front wheels.

Typically $3500 for a set...but I live 2 hours away from Miami where there are loads of dudes with Gallardos who want some nice CHROME RIMZ fo their LAMBO. I bet if I tried I could find a set for decent money. Just thoughts O:)
Wax, thanks. I love them, they are great companions. Glad you like the updates

I think Gallardo wheels would look HOT on the 200 Chris. Can't wait to see this thing running, even if it's just video. Two of my fav projects (this and the S4K) finishing in one summer, so stoked. BTW, know of any car shows/etc going on in florida in August? I'll be down visiting my dad, would be nice to go to another show/event before summer's over. I'll be in the Port Charlotte/Arcadia area.

Hmm there might be something. The best one is fixxfest, but thats in November usually. When in august will you be there? I'm in Jupiter until the 20th, then back to school in Gainesville after that.
Thanks for the compliments

I can't wait to get this thing finished either!! (though its really only like 30% finished after this summer

still have MUCH bigger plans.
Its sad that when I saw the Holset on that head I was like, "Meh...its not very big."

Sweet stuff. I don't know how much I'll be checking MG while I'm there, but I'll shoot you a PM with my number, feel free text me or call me or whatever if you're in the area. And if you were to catch 70 west, you'd go RIGHT through Arcadia, which is where my dad lives, then you could catch 93 north to 75 into Tampa. Just sayin lol. Don't stress too much though, I'm hoping that by the next time I visit down there I'll have a car I can actually run around with.

Yay, just put in another big order.
I didn't skimp. I did a lot of heavy research and like I always thought, there is no better way to go than with Tial. I got the new Tial Q 50mm BOV and also a flex section for the wastegate which I reaaaaly hope will fit. I'm sure we can make it happen. Parts will be here Thursday only because the flex section is out of stock. Oh, the beauty of local parts suppliers

Also, if you guys ever order from RPS, remember to mention the 10 percent off coupon. You can use it on their site by entering code 0001 or over the phone by mentioning the flyer that they have.
