AWIC isn't exactly weightless. I'd wager that they are usually heavier systems and still in front of the axles. That said, I think my URQ will get an AWIC with the exchanger in the spoiler ala group B.

Nothing is weightless; at least you can put your heat exchangers behind the axle.

OK, My brain is in work mode right now, can someone plot out for me how pre-compressor injection will impact compressor surge? Ideally I would get rid of the port shrouded housing for two reasons. They do increase spool time, and two they re-introduce water back into the intake that could cause compressor damage.

I have been doing some fine tuning with det cans and cycling through and examining spark plugs. I do have some detonation, and it's the worst on the 1st cyl, and gradually tapers off towards #5. This tells me the water is going to the back of the manifold.
Does anyone have real world experience with port water injection? It would solve my distribution problems, but I want to make sure I do it right.
I am thinking of doing a .4mm aquamist jet in each runner, that would give me almost exactly 25% fuel to water/meth ratio. I am running a high speed valve, so I can always scale it back.
Ultimately I do need a new intercooler, Pressure drop is only 1.5-2 psi, but the intake temps are pretty bad when the WI is not active.

Hmmm. I think the only real issue is having hte ports all on checks so it isn't siphoning under vac.
I have been suspect of the IC for a while. Your car does some funny things. I think ditchign it for a Garrett core of half the size would not only be lower IATs, but take 30 pounds off the tip of the nose on the car.

Personally, I'd keep a check-valve or solenoid as close as possible to the nozzles… the Howerton Audi has a nice clean instal but I'm leery about the amount of unchecked line to each injector. Easily remedied though!

The Howerton manifolds look nice, and are reasonably priced when you take into consideration the fittings they have included. I am thinking of ordering a 4 port, and adding another fitting to the end to make it a total of 6 ports.
Here is what I think I am going with. .5mm aquamist nozzles, in each port, and one .5mm nozzle pre-compressor. The port nozzles will be hooked to the High Speed valve, the pre compressor nozzle will be a simple on off solenoid to avoid large droplets hitting the compressor. This way I can control each one independently which is always nice to have. The port injectors will be large enough to satisfy injection needs alone, but will be scaled back a touch to make room for the pre-compressor injector.
Right now I am injecting about 5000 cc's of injector capacity, so this will net about 1200cc's which is 24% and about the max you will ever want to go. Aquamist flow rates are here

Those Aquamist nozzles with built-in check-valves look promising… seem ideal for direct port injection.

You don't need a check valve unless you have pre and post TB injectors being feed from the same valve. At first thought people think you need the valve to keep the vacuum from draining the lines. The issue is, that same check valve would also keep you from injecting any meth at all.

How so? I used to have a nozzle post TB & the w/m reservoir was draining awfully quick until I put a check-value in… not sure what its crack-pressure is on the valve (devil's own) but it seemed to work well.
When your nozzles come would you measure the depth of the threads? I think I'll order some too if they're long enough to secure to secure to an intake hose with a thin washer & nut.

Did you have a valve or solenoid in your system or were you just kicking on the pump? I am running a PWM high speed valve, so no chance of draining the tank. The nozzles are about 4-5mm deep.
Buy the adapter specifically for what you are trying to do. There is not enough meat on these nozzles to pinch them into a hose.

Valve between the pump and reservoir as well as just before the nozzle in the compressor housing… had one just before the post TB location when it was in.
Thanks for the measurement - I'll pick up some snow or devil's own nozzles for now then as they have longer threaded bodies. The adapters are good but just too big for the small piping I'm working with ATM.

Version 1.0 of port water injection:

A single .5mm jet for cooling the air only. This is really just to get the IAC to pick up on the cooler charge air.

We will see, I could never hear detonation before, but my plugs would get some slight aluminum deposits on them. I have a fresh pair in now for testing.
