Taco is selling a 95.5mm crank. I can only assume tall deck de-stroked 20vt for his new engine.

amirite?

well a destroked 20v would definately make a bunch of sense. I mean, we know how much they flow at high rpm, yep makes perfect sense.

Again...chipped 20vt....cheapest fastest, most reliable power for the money...

oh wait, practicality is not wanted here. Forgot.

Correct!

Only difference is I will NOT be using the 159mm rods. The plan will be to order a set of custom rods and pistons utilizing *hopefully* a 173mm rod for a 2:1 rod/stroke ratio. This will mean lighter pistons due to the wrist pin boss being moved up higher thus needing shorter skirts.

Even though I plan to port the living bajeezus out of the head with massively oversized valves, I would want to only rev this thing to 8000. I'm also planning on a full internal balance with the possibility of a dry sump system.

As for the turbo, well....we'll see about that after this damn volvo k24 sells!!!! :hammer:

oh for sure with VEMS!!!

Since business and my personal job have really picked up steam, everything will finally begin to move faster. I'm going to finish the much needed motor work on the dodge first before I start delving into the audi. That will be a winter project

IIRC, the s1 rally cars put out 600# of tq at 1000 rpm.

GO!

I distinctly remember reading that tidbit somewhere online, or hearing it on a period video on youtube.

Had something to do with their Umluft system and incredible amount of boost at idle (1.5 bar, IIRC).

The S1 idled at like 3000rpm too, which would make a little more sense. I still think it's a stretch though.

Yeah it probably is an exaggeration. Going to drive me crazy now until I find the source.

And FWIW, I meant A1 or A2, cause that stat was definitely for a 20v. Shredded my coconut when I came across the info.

Thanks guys, even the powdercoater was impressed and said something about it.

So I'm considering caving in and buying the LWFW from 034. After I buy the block, I'll start gathering up the rest of the parts.

Going to do the rear end sometime in the next month just to make some room in the garage. Winter is just about here
