I had the FPR vacuum hose pop off before too! I actually have it in video on my youtube channel. Backfired then idled like it was blown up and I was VERY scrared, lol. Ziptied and good as new.

When is this thing hitting the drag strip so we know how much power she's making? Our track is just opening up now but I'm not running it until after Carlisle (for obvious reasons, lol).

ha yeah... I'm definitely not going to run it at the track either because of Carlisle. I have two possible jobs for the summer and I told one that I couldn't work the thursday, friday, and monday of Carlisle weekend :)

When I get the new tranny in it and a southbend then it will go to the strip. I tried launching the car on the shoulder of the road the other day (grassy) and the clutch was NOT having it lol. That is exactly what happened when my FPR line came loose too. I have video of it when it happened and of it idling like crap after while I tried to figure out what the hell I broke haha.

Jon, yeah I fear for the 400 whp limit after the skyline, but I dunno... I feel like he must have been making a little less power than 408. The 200 does weigh more and there is no way this car is making more power than that. The skyline felt like all of 350-400 though when riding in it. Roommate's E30 made 350whp on the dyno just recently, so the butt dyno has been recently calibrated. Skyline feels the same or better and it has to have at least 400 pounds on the E30. I dunno, I am definitely really curious what its making. I don't think it will make it to the dyno before rods, hank mani, and new tranny though. Regardless, I'll do a base run of course before we tune and that should give a good base number for what its been making all this time.

So you're going now? Sweet! Big turbo 200's unite! Need to get Casey there now.

Also, I REALLY can't believe that you're still on a stock clutch!!

I'm like 80% sure I can go yes. I added a caveat to my acceptance of employment with one company and they seemed fine with it! They are going to get back to me next week with a confirmation of employment for the summer. If I don't work there, it will just be at a marina or something and I know I can take days off there.

I can't believe the clutch either man... it blows my mind! Maybe its because I pretty much only do second gear pulls in the car to avoid tickets around town.

Great to hear man, would be cool to meet you.

I'm pretty sure mine was original and @ 230k it still didn't slip but basically stock. Try and do one launch and instant slippage, slam into 2nd and more slippage lol. When I removed the stock clutch it was completely gone and I have no idea how it didn't slip just driving around.

I still managed to click off a 14.9 @ 93mph in bone stock form at the strip. Not bad for rolling out of the hole and a 1991 boat :)

that is damned good. Any guesses as to what you'll trap now? I would imagine you could ride out third gear thru the traps.

With my best guess coming from the cars I have ran so far I am in the 110-112mph trap with my IAT's going through the roof (130f-140f) after a long pull.

2009 WRX (known to trap 109)
2011 5.0 Mustang GT (Trap ~110)
Cammed LS1 Camaro (Trap 110)

These were all ran from a roll of around 60mph on cold nights (approx 45-50f). I beat the WRX like it was not even moving:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2Rk52MXgB4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMQ0niFjwLo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_G6gmYIty6E

The camaro and Mustang was a three wide race also from 60 and I brake boosted and immediately pulled out two cars on the third beep then maybe crept away another half-full car (def a closer race). Sorry no videos of that run.

When I ran the car stock I was running through the traps popping the rev limiter in third once or twice. Considering I've nearly doubled (guess) the power of the car I'd say it'll definitely be in 4th gear with the tires that are on it.

Ah OK, I see with the stock 200 20v ratios how that would happen. With my new tranny, I should be able to trap about 111 at 7800 realistically and then 120 at 8500. If solid lifter and dry sump, 155 or so would be possible :)

**edit** HA! I know tdipower4me. I helped him set up a 50 trim on his VW a few years back! Small world.

Today I fixed my AC (now blows out of the center vents when I want it to) and also fixed my 10 disc CD changer. Now to find the remote that controls it... Tomorrow I have to put it all back together and rewire a few things. LONG day for me working on this thing in the sun and 90 degrees out (at least). I'm proud of figuring out the AC problem though. Its been an issue since day 1!

no offense but in that vid it looked like when both on it, it pulled you pretty well and when you were still on it, they were backing off, and that is when you were catching up. I could be wrong but that is my guess. come on just dyno it or run it down the 1/4 one time to see what it traps then we will know.

I guess you'd have to see the rest of the footage or have been there. I shouldn't say we were dead even. He probably pulled on me a little, but its not like the 200 was being blown away. He'd get me down low with torque, but the cars were very well matched up top in terms of power. Its enough for me to say its gotta be making good power, thats all.

I really don't have the time to go to the track or dyno especially when I'll need to spend the money on both in a matter of months anyway. I know I'm killin you man, but it is what it is! I won't make any more mentions of power until dyno day. How is that? I'll just talk about the problems the car has and how I fix them lol

haha. deal. really that was just my best guess from watching a few seconds of vid. i am hoping it will prove to be in the 2 million hp range of course.

Maybe there is more then one? He had a 30r 1.8t and is local here... Now he's got an Evolution 9 and a TDI.

I love fixing problems that have been around from day 1! Awesome work man!

No, I definitely know the same one. You can ask him and he'll definitely know who I am too. I just helped him figure a lot of stuff out a while back. I was like the go-to guy for "big turbo" 1.8t advice lol. I'm not sure if he did a 50 trim before the 30r or if it was just straight 30r though.k

Chris,

As promised, a high res picture of your new steering wheel. And my CAC wheel for comparison (with UB hat). They are both RS2 steering wheels.

OK I need to have a plan for this summer now that I know I'll be at home and will have a job. For May, there will be no real work on the car (maybe get a wastegate dump made) because it has to be running for Carlisle. I'm also going to throw a good axle in it (current one clicks after long drives and has a badly ripped CV boot), but thats it. I will probably also look into fixing the cruise when I get a chance.

So after Carlisle I'm sure my funds will be a bit low from spending probably $600 on gas and food and beer AT THE LEAST lol. Anyway, I figure I can start tearing into it since my work should be walking distance from my house. I should have the tranny by then (already paid for) so here is the list of things to do and buy:

-pull engine and tranny
-pull steering rack and replace with all new lines and either the good, used rack I have or get a replacement fo cheap from that one place

tranny

-get mounts made for the 01e
-axles for the 01e (maybe have them shortened?)
-southbend stage 4 clutch or better. Must be full-faced. I will launch the car, but its not like its a full time drag car.
-aluminum flywheel

engine

-rods *top secret at the moment ;) *
-rod bearings (already have)
-main bearings (good idea no?)
-new gaskets and such
-hank intake manifold (paid for)
-new rings
-maybe a hone
-MLS head gasket
-ARP's (have them)
-IFit does go to the machine shop, maybe an o-ring so I can push 35-40 psi on C16 or whatever

I think that takes care of everything on that end. Suggestions are more than welcome. I just kinda remembered that the fuel system still hasn't been addressed as far as pump and such goes.

Fuel system

This will be temporary as I think for my goals down the road, I'm going to go with a mechanical pump, but I can't do that until I go dry sump. I guess I'll just have my in-tank 040 feed a surge tank and then do an 044 from there. Not sure if that will be able to handle my fueling needs though. I do have another 040 that could maybe feed the 044 effectively lowering the potential of the pressure across it... meh I guess we'll see. This can all be done later on if money is lower than I would like.

-surge tank
-044
-weldon FPR
- -8 lines

misc.

-new engine mounts (probably won't have time to make my own so 034 ones look good)
-run all new push-to-connect vac lines
-weld all ic piping up with Hargett QDC connectors instead of my temporary silicone ones that suck
-might need to do some pads and at least turn down the rotors at some point
-convince my mother than all of this is necessary to fix all of my oil and power steering leaks and to keep the car running for a long time lol
-dyno :)

head will stay stock for now to save money and because I'm not quite ready for solids and a dry sump yet after what this will cost me. After this though, dry sump, solids, a nice tube mani, and my HX52.

Again, any suggestions are welcome (except for telling me I need pistons).
