I took off the one bracket on the left for the other trim piece and it fit in there nicely, but lining up the mounting points was a huge pain. It hasn't fallen yet so it will probably stay that way until I decide that I need an excuse to get all worked up over a silly little shelf :wink:

Where do you think I am getting all this inspiration? :D I'm going kinda backward (if you ask Hank), however these are easier tasks and less expensive than turbo/vems/fmic/etc. Soon though, Soon.

Was your shelf from a coupe? I think I made the mistake of getting one from a sedan and it is completely different than my coupe's knee bolster.

Mine was from a sedan, and once I cleared out some space (mostly the cutting and bending the brackets connected between body and edge of dash on the left on the 91s), the mounting holes all lined up and bolted up fine.

Mine was from an 80 sedan. But all I had to do was remove the two side brackets, and the other bracket on the left that the other bracket was attached to (phew, that was convoluted). After that the fitment was fine, just trying to line up the mounting points was a pain. This would be true for the OEM one as well on the top mount points.

mine was from a sedan and fit perfect in my coupe, just needed to remove the brackets as stated above.

Over the last few weeks an issue has been getting worse. Here is the low down on what is happening.

Intermittently, and especially when the car is cold I will have the throttle steady (to maintain speed limit) and the engine will start bogging down. If i give it a little more throttle it will get worse. If I give it full throttle it will get better and accelerate but still act like it is bogging down. If I lift my foot off the throttle and then press on the throttle it acts normal for a few seconds. It will then go back to the flooding issue. It will eventually go back to normal. I recently took a 300 mile road trip and on the way back I had this issue come up ~10 times.

Note that I recently put in different Cat and had to add a bung to it in order to install the O2 sensor. This pushed the O2 sensore further out of the Cat. Also, my temp gauge works intermittently, but that has been going on since I bought the car. Any help will be appreciated!

Sounds like you have a combination of faulty o2 reading and a temp sensor issue. If the temp sensor for the ECU does not work properly, the fuel goes very rich.

I will start with the temp sensor. It hasn't really worked since I got the car (common problem from what I hear). It did work this morning and there were no flooding issues.

There are two. the MTFS (multi function temp sensor) is for the display, the other is signal for the ECU. If this one is broken, then it runs on cold weather setting, ie rich. This sensor is cheap to replace. Combined with an iffy O2(not cheap), it will run real bad.

I haven't. All I have is a OBDII VAG COM which I don't think will work.

Why not? Have you tried? The VCDS system can point you in the right direction if there are sensor issues and such.

Yep.
The 3 pin is for the display (MTFS), the 2 pin for the ECU signal.

Took this video of the noise the tranny is making. Any thoughts? Yesterday after getting home from work there was a hint of gear oil smell.

The 'Paint Your Own Car' class is starting summer semester which doesn't leave me much time to get this thing ready. Question for you who are in the know about prepping for paint:

What's the best way to start prepping and what materials should I be using? I assume sanding is going to be involved but just not sure what the proper procedure is.

Ok, so I have these wheels sitting in the garage. 16's with a 45 offset. Will they fit? Just by putting them next to the car they are too tall with 205/55's but maybe with a smaller tire? I was thinking of painting the white. Comments?

Do 90s have 5 bolt hubs? I would do a color other than whit on a black car. They'd look good as they are in silver.
